Question IF you had 25,000 for a rx7 ????....

IF you had 25,000 for a 3rd gen what would u buy it would be cool to get some lists going here
like 13,000 for the car
2,500 for single turbo kit
xxx.xxx for street port
ecu blah blah blah
the reason i ask is i might (crossing fingers) be getting 25,000 dollars to get a 3rd gen and do what ever i want to it aside from the 25,000 i will have 5-6 thousand for unexpected repairs after a year or after im out of the 25,000
SO basicly IF you were in my shoes how would u spend the money

Thanks!

Thats easy! Buy a 3rd gen is good shape that has no motor. 5 or 6 grand. Then get a 20b 3 rotor and have it installed. You may be a little over your 25k depending on who did the work. But you would have a 500+hp RX-7 that would eat any street car on the road.

If I were to do it all over again, knowing that I would be modding my car to the extreme I would have bought a ragged out 7 for 10k or less and then put the other 15k-18k in mods and ported engine in at one time. Of course if you find one cheap you may have to paint it and do some interior/exterior work also. So maybe figure spending 30k after everything is perfect to have a brand new 400-500hp rx7.

If I have approx. $30 grand to play with and am in the market for a car. I would not buy a beat up 3rd gen and put a motor or a 3 rotor($35 grand) in it . You have to ask a few question toward your goal. Do you want a vehicle to do upgrade on AND then maybe sell it later. or just a fast car for $30k and keep it for good.? If you want the second mention then, I be patient and try to get my hand on a fully stock 95 R2 and keep it that way. It will grow in value and its still fast as hell. Just get a 4:3 rear and your in mid to low13's, just like the japan only version 3rd gens. And if you decide to sell it in a few years, you'll most likely make some money. Heck, you get a fast car and an investment!!Cant' beat that. But if you decide to want a 3rd gen soley for upgrade, then your opion is very large. There are about 300 3rd gen for sale on the internet. Rangeing from $6k to $30k. Pick the one that you like for about 7-8k and rebuld the motor and add all the goodies you want. Just remember that if you do upgrades, Its not likely that you'll get your money back, let me change it to , you will not get your money back. If you dump $30k in a 3rd gen with all the mods, most likely you'll sell it for 16-18k grand*(at most)!!!So be wise!!!

I'm taking an approach closer to Blade7's. I started with a nearly perfect '93 RX-7 Touring with 18K miles that has been babied it's whole life. I realize it's no '95 R2 but I think any FD in this kind of condition will hold it's value well as long as I keep the miliage low. I'm doing reliability mods such as full tune-up, radiator, downpipe, and PowerFC (I'm considering this to be a reliability mod because I want to be able to monitor turbos and water temp with out changing the interior at all). Then to have a little fun I'm adding a M2 intake and M2 exhaust. But for the purpose of retaining value I'm making no visual modifications inside or out (except wheels and tires which can easily be swapped back) and no serious power mods. Currently, I'm suffering from sticker shock though because I just got my credit card bill. All these "minor" combined are adding up to around $5000.

I'd use it as a downpayment on a new Porsche GT2.

big *** single turbo, apexi power fc, v-mount intercooler, apexi cold air intake, nice porting while your rebuilding the engine......
theennnnn....
tein super circut adjustable racing suspension (over 900 different combination of suspensioney goodness), some crazy lightweight 18" racing wheels, brembro big breaks with cross drilled ventelators, 6 or 8lb act flywheel, sparco racing seats..... strip the interior of all the excess weight like the sound deadining thats straight from the devil.... c-west body kit with an apr adjustable rear wing and fixed lights (im not from the popup group) .... then.... spend the rest of your money on carbonfiber pannels from seibon and give them a nice metallic paint colour...then, AiM MXL pro datalogger with a full set of sensors

.... im pretty sure all that would cost more than $25k but at the end you'd have something you could run out to le mans with ... lol

Buy a 1998 Bathurst RS-R in Sunburst Yellow, and do reliability modifications, and have it as a daily driver.
