Idle problems

Ok, I just got my car back from the paint shop. I really wanted to drive it, but it won't run right. Right before I took it into the paint shop, I installed a FMIC and had my intake manifold sand blasted. Now when I start it up, the idle won't drop below 2500 rmps. I installed the acclerated warm up block off plates and a new gasket between the throttle body and the upper intake manifold. The idle dropped from 4k-3k with the new gasket and then from 3k-2.5k with the block off plates, so I think I'm getting closer. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jesse

Have you try adjusting the idle screw on the throttle body.

I think we did. My friend and I were working on it at the same time, so I'm not sure if he did. I'll try it today to make sure.

Another thing to check is the cable itself, I've seen people with high idle because of a sticky or kinked cable which cause the throttle to open a bit.

Good luck

Hmm OK, when you installed the block off plate for the AWS did you wire the fast idle cam open(half way)?
Because if you didn't then the idle will be affected.

Nice new paint job Looks good.

No, I didn't wire it open. I'll try that, but the idle was at like 3k before the block off plates. Thanks for the compliments on the paint!!!

You said the idle was like that before you installed the bolck off plate, that could be the water thermosensor is broken therefore your idle is always at warm up range.
So you might want to check that sensor if you wire the fast idle cam open and it still idles high!

I'm running out of ideas, lol

My PFC reads a water temp though. If the thermosensor was broken, wouldn't that read 0?

I think the acctual water temp is taken form the sensor(just below the oil filter) by the oil pressure unit on the intermediate plate.

So did it help with the idle(fast idle cam with it wired open)?

I didn't get a chance to try it today. I worked in the morning and it was my G/F and mine aniversary, so we went out. I might get a chance tomorrow (hopefully).

I fixed it. Damn am I stupid. There was a tiny piece of old gasket stuck to my intake manifold. I guess it caused a leak, DOH! haha.
