idle problem strange fix

Hi all I had a strange idle problem of late. I have a 98 Touring x auto. I have noticed of late that when the car had warmed up the idle was low and when in gear and stationery car would idle at 300 rpm or stall sometimes. If I put extra load on the car i.e put on sidelights or rear window demister then it would idle ok. Also when doing a hot restart the idle would flutuate for a good 40 seconds before settling down. I thought I had a inlet manifold gasket leak. I took it to my mechanic the inlet gasket was fine, thank God saved over £300 instantly. He then noticed my airpump was not working and had no voltage going to it. Upon tracing the wiring for the airpump he found it goes to the air con fuse in engine bay. When he removed this he saw the fuse was blown and replaced it straight away my airpump started working. So it appers the airpump gets it's 12 volt feed from the air con fuse. My car now idles fine and hotstart is fine also. Strange and cheap fix. I had my compression tested I have 101 max and min 98 psi so compression is good. Thought this info may help someone.
