Question Idle issues

HELP What is wrong...

i did a single turbo and a rebuild streetport short block engine with 5k on it

car starts

idles rich

if reved up and just let off gas it stalls out most of the time

if it is reved slow it is fairly smooth

if slow release of throttle it will return to idle

if reved fast or reved and you get off/on throttle regardless of rpm it is not smooth-sounds like missing or flooding...hesitation

idk if its igniton or fuel or what

it back fired thro engine when reving on/off

rewired fuel pump bc it was only at 8.5volts...not change how engine runs

new plugs

wires have 10k maybe

tested spark and getting spark but one plug/wire/coil dims the light when put on load?

map on pfc is off a similar setup with adjustments for mine

we swapped coils out with some i had laying around...i was not sure how to test so searched and will test soon

with the coils i had laying around still does not change how it runs.

ignition and fuel were not problems on old engine.

ideas? what to test?

have not begun to tune or drive bc these issues....

Check the plugs from the ignition harness that plugs into the coils. Those could be reversed. I'm the guy with the Montego Blue FD at Starbucks. Hit me up if you need help!

map sensor connected.

we check everything with ignition last night-everything checked out fine. we switch the one plug that was dimming the spark tester light to another location. the problem followed the plug so we got a new plug and issue stoped first couple starts and is now back.

next to check is fuel. still open for ideas.

greatshamangt....u get urs tuned?

need a full list of engine modifications, need to see your current map, need logs of the problem

there's a good chance it's not a mechanical problem at all

no two cars are the same, just cuz the car has similar mods doesn't mean the map will work for both cars.

I'm not talking about spark plugs, I'm talking about the female plugs on the ignition harness itself. They go to the leading plugs (bottom plugs I believe? I can't remember, it's the two independent coil packs)

My car is not tuned yet. I'm still stock piling parts.

Are you using stock coils? If so, are you sure you have the correct connectors on the correct coils? You've also verified that you have the correct CAS connectors on the correct sensor? You listed stock fuel, I'm assuming that means the stock secondary fuel rail? If so, did you verify you have the correct connector on the fuel temp sensor?

ignition plug from harness to plug wires are all connected correctly and have been tested and are in spec. stock coils, stock harness, stock fuel rails. i will doubt check fuel temp one...where is it located? is it the one on the rail? sorry i am not with the car right now and going off memory at moment.......if so it is corrected. we have not started testing fuel things yet besides...rewiring pump and listening to injectors to make sure working

And you are sure you have the correct colors on the coils front to back (white, black, blue)?

What about the CAS sensors? You have a PFC, so you should be able to see their voltage:

Keep in mind that something that is just out of spec won't necessarily have a big flashing light on it.

we had to take 50% of fuel out idle section of base map to get air/fuels into the mid 13s so something more than just tune is off...

The fact that your able to get the car to idle in the 13's shows that the fuel system is properly working (injectors not sticking). Post your map as there might be some little issue that we can pick up quickly.

Other than that I would get your FSM out or download one to see that all the sensors are in spec on the sensor screen via the commander. It's most likely something simple...
