I had two threads about my high idle problem and had a high idle for about 6 months (ever since I got the car). The problem was someone who owned the car before me had placed a switch in the car that changed the resistance in the line to the fuel pump and made it idle higher. So now that's gone and the car idles around 800 rpm. The engine is streetported and the vacuum at idle is 10.5 in HG (this is I think is from a vacuum leak, going to check later tonight).

My problem now is that at certain throttle positions there is a weird droning sound. I have a RB dual tip and cruising around it's about half as loud as the exhaust. It's very noticable and kind of worries me. It only makes the sound when I have the throttle at maybe 5-15% (can't check for sure until I get the AFC back in), the throttle is in enough to maintain speed or slightly speed up. It doesn't make the sound at idle or when I give it any significant amount of throttle. Any idea what this is?

 

can you dupicate the sound without driving it, if you can see if it is on the passanger side near the firewall, if so dose it sound like a "farting noise". If this is the case it could be the air pump inlet into the exhast. just get a 3/4 heater hose capp and in stall it on the nipple on the back corner of the intake.

 

I couldn't get it to make the sound sitting in the parking lot, so I drive to Wendy's and it didn't make the sound at all. I don't know what the deal is now.
