Idle is at 2200 RPM....Help

Yesterday I opened the 7 up on the highway, and when I got to work the idle was all messed up. When the Turbo Timer kicked in...it was idleing up and down for a minute and then shut off. Then when I left for lunch, the car idled up to the advanced idle position and when I tapped the gas to bring it back down...nothing, it idles down, but then goes right back to 2200....even when I'm driving it does. I'm thinking vacuum line somewhere...but I need some help..where could it be, there's about 2 million under there...any help is key.

Thanks

Todd

do you have a power fc? if so, it could be the wires. my car was doing the funky idle thing until i found a broken check valve under the pressure chamber. i would check there first becsue it is the easiest to get to.

I don't have the PFC. Under the pressure chamber? Are you talking about the intake manifold itself? I looked at any vaccuum line that I could see and I don't see one off or cracked at all.

the pressure chamber is the little black plastic container in front of the manifold. it has 2 lines going in and 2 going out. there are 2 check valves beneath it.

Okay, I looked under that, and then only thing that I can see are three of things that look like bobbers for fishing...LOL. I assume those are the check valves then...they are in the lines. Anyway, they seem to be on snug, and how would I know if it was defective?

check valves

if they were broken you they would either be broken in half or you could blow both ways in them. you should only be able to blow through one end. it will make a whistling sound. i would also check for a loose ground around your ecu or your alternator.

Sounds like the inlet manifold gasket has gone. That usually causes the problem your having also.

Duse you have obviously popped off a vacum hose somewhere and are now experiencing some sort of vacum leak. First thing i would check is the MAP sensor, If you dont know what or where it is just do a search. If thats still in place try checking any vacum lines that ar e ataed to the UIM and see if they are securely in place. If its not one of those then happy hunting for the loose or popped off hose.

Okay, I have the whole top half of the engine ripped off, and I can't find ****. The map sensor is looking good, and all the vaccuum lines that I can see are secure too. I'm gonna dive in pretty heavy tonight, so I'll see where I get.

I looked into it, and does it make sense that the coolant could be low? I just heard it from a friend of mine that went to school for these cars. He said that is a warning sign..hell I don't know. I'm working on it but any ideas would be crucial at this time. Please, and ideas out there?

I had a similar problem where i was idling around 5k. Turns out that under WOT the cruise control cable jamed the throttle open. Check to make sure this is not the case, just a suggestion.

I guarantee that this is not the case...I have an R2 so I don't have cruise control. Help? I just got a manual from the dealership.....and I'm not talking the shitty little 100 page manual, I have the actual manual that the techs use in the workshop, direclty from Mazda. The one that has the Vaccuum line diagram, and all that stuff. Any other suggestions would be helpful.
