Angry idiot backed into my car!!

this morning my roommate backs right up into my beautiful parked rx7 taking out my left front fender and doing a good bit of damage to my front end and front headlight. Luckily a friend of mine owns a body shop and said he would give me a good deal on the work. I will need a new fender and some montego blue paint. I have searced the internet with no luck into finding any used parts. Where should I look to find the best prices and also, how can I come across the paint? Dealer maybe? Thanks

Check the parts sale section on the forum. Youll find almost anything on there.

I bought a new fender from the local Mazda dealer. It was about $235. Malloy Mazda usually won't ship body parts because of the high probability of shipping damage.

I got mine from my local mazda dealer for $210, give 'em a call, not a bad price for a brand new body part.

well hey if you can get one brand new for a little bit over 200, ill sell you the one i got if its the same side that you need for 100 bucks, the only thing is you would just have to get the old paint off, brand new and used you would still have to get it painted. and the one i have is in excellent condition

Why the hell are you approaching the problem this way? This is why there is insurance -- to have the problem fixed right. His insurance should be paying for a full complete fix -- new panels, proper paint coverage, etc.

Agreed. Assuming your car was parked legally (and probably even if it wasn't), your roommate is entirely at fault. Therefore his insurance should be covering the cost of professional repairs. Or, if he doesn't want to submit the accident and get a higher premium, then he should cover the cost of professional repairs out of his pocket.

I suspect you've never had to live with another person for an extended period of time. I generally do my best not to **** off roommates - and accidents do happen. Now, if they were ****-drunk at the time and plowed into my car, that would be different, since they had no business driving.

I would negotiate it with him, but in the end he should pay no matter what... one of my best friends hit my car while it was parked in the driveway. I took it to a bodyshop and got an estimate and he gave me cash.

(what are friends for)

Not milk HIM per se,

BUT his INSURANCE co, it is a legitimate claim.

Why buy factory when you can get bad *** aftermarket
stuff at practically same cost??

It was just a thought...

LOL The problem is that he doesn't have the money to do anything. If I milk him then he can't pay rent and I can't afford to keep the place by myself. And just to clarify how this guy is, he tried to blame the incident on my "bad" parking job, even though I was parked legally. I just pulled up slightly further than usual b/c behind my has a dryer sitting outside for my landlord to come pick up and I had to give him enough room to back his truck up to it. He went completely irate when I told he had to pay for the whole thing. He tried to fight me several times infact. I would love to screw him over, but I'm a nice guy and he later agreed to pay completely for the damages.

Um, hello? Doesn't he have insurance? Don't you? Nobody should be paying for this out of pocket. Get his insurance involved, go to the best body shop in town, and get the car fixed right.

Man I'd be less pissed off if he was drunk and hit my car. If he was sober and plows into my car he is going to pay for it for being an idiot lol. I live with 2 other roomates, if you mess something up you pay for it, period.

Ok, how old are you? Your not a very smart guy......sorry but I'm just stating from what I have read. I would kick his *** out of the partment and find a new roommate. Then I would slash every tire he had on his car and beat the living **** out of him. This dumbass needs to learn a lesson. You not doing anything just makes him think he can get away with it. You said he agreed to pay for full but you contradicted yourself by saying he cant pay for it. So what the hell is happening? Who's paying for it? If you are then your not smart. If he is or his insurance is payin for it then your being smart. Who cares if his payments go up, screw him for not stopping when he first started to hit your car (If your saying he took out your fender AND did some damage to the front bumper) and didn't stop right away. Plus I'm sure he would still make the payments. But if I were you I would still get a new roommate if he's that shaddy with friends even.

haha, because kicking is *** out of the apartment and slashing all his tires and kicking his *** is going to be very productive and helpful in getting his fd looking the way it was again, rite...? hehe, let's let cooler heads prevail.
