Well today when i went to do i SLIGHT visual check of some vaccum lines to see if any were popped off or anything i started the car....after i was done that is. Well with the hood popped u can ever so slightly smell a little gas when ur standing in front of the engine bay. I was pretty close to it but my head wasnt like down in it. Well i closed the hood and went to the rear just to see if i could find this squeak (the car is still idling by the way) Well when i got to the exhaust i could smell it fairly good now. I wasnt even right at it but the wind was sorta blowing my way and u could smell it good. ALso the other night i got on it while my friend was behind me and he said he smelled something odd when we were flying down the road. I'm not sure if it was that or just something in the air. Anyway do u guys think i have a problem from smelling that when the car was just idling. It was slightly in the engine bay and u could smell it a good bit more at the exhaust. And there was like an EXTREMELY small amount of smoke comming out.....i mean like i had to look at something dark and just saw a VERY SMALL puff......but after that it didnt smoke anymore. Just like 3 times. And it's about 65-70 degrees out if that matters. Thanks!

Change Fuel filter and Fuel p dampner(s/p)?

Do search on FPD... i need to change that too...

 

I smelled fuel with mine too. I smelled it even while I was in the car. I hope your situation isn't as bad as mine, there was a leak in the fuel injector. Are you noticing a difference in your milage?

 

i had the same problem as PFSRX7. Two injectors were leaking...and those things are expeisive as hell. by the way, dont blow up. I was lucky mine didnt catch fire before i got it fixed.

 

I had one of my injector O-rings go out...watchout man. FIRE FIRE FIRE!

Smelling gas is a common problem with third gens. I was having the same problem, turns out It was my friend huffing in the passenger seat.

 

Are you sure you are not just smelling rich exhaust? My exhaust is very potent when the car is idleing, but it doesn't smell like raw fuel.

 

if the smell is from under the upper intake you've got aproblem.You need to have someone fix it because the car is very supseptable to catching fire f this is the case you can call me and Ill help you through your process of elimination,I believe it would be to hard to explain here
but I deal with this everyday

mine just started doing it.
I had an increase in mileage per gallon.
sounds weird. is it the fuel pulsation dampers?
I'm replacing the metal check valve also.
