I smell Gas, cant be great!
Hey guys, i have a 1992 JDM RX-7. Just recently i have been smelling gas, usually its when i slow-down or stop i can smell it. Im also running rich, i dont know if that would have anything to do with it though.
Its a total stock set up except for down pipe, mid pipe and cat back exaust with HKS Dragger.
Im wondering if there are any tests or any thing to maybe see if its my injectors. Ive been keeping my RPM's below 5000, incase its the secondary injectors. But any info on this, and or any tests i can do to check what exacly is leaking?

Pull it in the garage with no air flow after it has been driven. Stick your nose as close to the underside of the UIM as possible. Do not do the classic red neck thing and have a lit cig in your mouth, lol. Mine was really bad I knew it was coming from there. It could be a few things down there. FPD. Bad line, Bad O -rings or injectors. After doing the jumper I had an a lot of fuel pooling up after a short time. Well, it turns out it was a bad primary injector that was leaking from the top. Total cost for mine =
270.00 For both primary injectors. I changed both since they were 14 years old.
24.00 for O rings I didn't need.
25.00 For a set of solonoids from another member. Those things get brittle so be careful.
140.00 for 30 feet of Viton tubing
8.00 for new fuel hose
11.99 for a 12 pack of Sierra Nevada to calm me down when trying to get the solonid rack back in.
total=478.99
Car running great again with no more fumes....PRICELESS

Ok sounds good, ill give that a shot.
BTW i bought the car like this, with a DP, CAT and MP, would i NEED a ECU upgrade? Cause its runing fine ATM.
Except for this little issue
How much would a FPD be to replace? And how hard would it be? would i be able to do it, i have little experiance working with FD's.

Well, I don't know about NEEDING it, but it's definitely a good idea. With a less restrictive exhaust you can see boost creep, which can damage the engine if there isn't the fuel there to compensate for it. That's where the ECU upgrade comes in...allows you to run that extra boost by adding more fuel to the mix. If you have too little fuel, you run leaner, which means you run hotter, which can lead to detonation, and that can lead to a chipped/cracked apex seal and rebuild time.

FPD are 150.00 or 160.00 I think . New fuel lines since your there is a few bucks and then you need to fix any bad vacuum lines or bad solonoids since you have to move this stuff to get to the FPD.

Run a search or refer to the FAQ. I and others have written catalogs about it and I don't have time to write it all again.

Thnaks guys, ill definately get this checked out. Would any of you have pics of the FPD? i dont exacly know what il be looking for.
As for the Mods issue, I have a HKS Dragger exaust, which is quite restrictive, and it compensates for my flow mods in a manner of which i never get spikes or Creep. When i get my intakes and FMIC and Boost controller, ill look into a ECU aswell. Thanks for the heads up!!
