I need your opinion on a FD purchase

OK, I need some help deciding if I should buy this car. Yesterday I heard a rumor of a nice Silver 94 R1 that has some light front end damage and salvage title. I went today to check out the car and I have to say it is one of the cleanest FD's I'v seen. The damage is somewhat minor. Probably 1500-2k to get it back together, but the salvage title discourages me. I don't need another one so I would be selling it or parting it out. The car runs and drives. The engine is street ported with greddy manifold and stock turbos as far as I could tell. I know the motor is low miles so it would fetch a good $ here. Now for the good part. The interior is black and flawless. R1 Seats look brand new. No wear at all. All plastics are perfect and 94 which is a plus. The driver door pocket is perfect as well as all the dash plastics. I can pick this up for 5K. What should I do? Fix it or part it out. Any ideas would be a great help.

What exactly would you like to hear?
You didn't say what it'd cost to buy, so -in the event you'd be parting it out- how could we establish whether or not it is going to be convenient?
I feel that parting should be a good business, but this is just based on guess. I wouldn't buy a salvage, but that's just me, don't mean to judge or anything.

Edit: did't see the price. If you have the time/money/will, 5k is pretty good...

5K is pretty good if it is really as clean as you say. And if it only costs 2k to get it back up and running (you did not mention what the damage was) then you have a very nice FD (based on your description) for 7K which is about right (maybe a little high, but not really for a 94) for one with a salvage title.

On the other hand, at 5K, you could probably part it out and make a little money, but that is a lot of hassel and you must establish if the profit you would make is worth it.

Personally, if the car is in as good of shape as you say it is, fix it and keep it...

Even with a salvage title that's a desirable car. Will you get rich buying it and flipping it? Maybe not. But it would be a serious shame to see it hit the trash heap. And you'll end up with a great FD for very good price.
