Unhappy I need some help, car is smoking

I just bought a 3 gen Rx-7 a couple weeks ago and got it shipped here today. Anyway the care is smoking bad and is burning up gas. Sometimes it is blue smoke and sometimes it is black smoke. Anyone have any ideas what is going on? Sorry Iam a newbie, but Iam trying to learn as much as I can about the rotary engine though. Thanks

Leo

how many miles are on your car? and how long does it smoke? there's been a couple of threads where guys have been worried about smoke at startup. i was too until i read them. when you first start up your car a puff of blue smoke is normal, so is white smoke. thats just the condensation boiling off. this was one of the links that made me feel a little better:

there's plenty more links like this, just go to search and type in "smoke."

Black smoke?

Do a search on MAP sensor hose. This is a common cause of black smoke.

How much blue smoke?

The Rx-7 only has about 52k miles on it. Anyway it finally quit smoking, it could just have been some oil leaking into the intake or something. Also I found a hose not connected and connected that. Phew... man I thought I was going to start crying. But everything is well now for the time being. I just bought a shop manual, so Iam gonna start studying and start doing some minor reliabilty upgrades. Thanks for the quick replys.
