Thumbs down I need some 3rd Gen advice !!

OK, so I bought a 1994 touring edition that has a pristine interior, some faded paint, and a missing apex seal. I bought the car because it was so nice and it was so cheap, my only problem being that the car doesn't have a title. It was a NY car and i do have a State Registration Receipt but it says non-transferable. I have since rebuilt the engine with low miles rotors and irons, decent housings off ebay, and a rebuild kit from Atkins with all new seals and springs. I get about 95 lbs on my piston compression tester and it starts every time. So now i have a running driving car that i can't register and is honestly too expensive for me at the moment. So my questions is what to do with the car ? It's a shame to part out such a nice car but is there interest in a nice 3rd gen with no title ? I bought this car to save it from the crusher so i hate to see it end up there. I don't want to see a car like this just sitting, It has too much potential. Any ideas, anyone ?

Have you tried to apply for a title at your DMV? if you have the name of the previous owner you will have to include that in the application. If you dont know the there name have a police officer run the vin for you, or run a car fax. the fee in Illinois was about $25 when i did it about 10 years ago.

They will only provide me with a salvaged title if I show what exactly causes the initial damage and receipts showing where i had a professional fix said problems. I did all the labor myself so they won't issue me a salvaged title being that i only have a receipt for a rebuild kit. I also looked at a bonded title but it's not promising either...

find someone who fixes paperwork, ie a tow company and pay them a few bucks to sort it out for you.

unless the car has been reported stolen then it can be liened.

Yeah like Jeff said you can take the car to say Carmax tell em you are thinking about selling it & they'll do a detailed inspection & give you the documentation you need. If that doesnt work take it to a Mazda Dealer or Rotary Performance shop in your area.

Good Luck,
Idel

they still probably won't accept that, what the DMV wants is to be sure the repair work was done correctly. i'm just not sure why they told you they want to see repair paperwork, like they would just hand you the title without anything else. having the title is the first step in process of getting the car registered, your state should have a safety inspection station somewhere...
