i need help from someone going with a reman

hey guys, im in the middle of an engine rebuild and i found that both of my main bearings are in need of being replaced. if anybody might want to trade stationary gears with me (you gotta have a good set of bearings ), i will pay for shipping. i just dont want to go through with the hassle of buying the bearings, pressing them out, then pressing the new ones in. i know its better to do that in the long run, but its just one of the things that i dont want to mess with. . . especially since im broke as hell. haha. if anybody wants to help that would be awesome.

i figured that if you get a reman it doesnt matter what shape the bearings are in when you send them in.

thanks,
paul

If you have done all that work of removing and disecting your engine, why would you want to short change your self by using a part that could be half way out? It's going to turn your new engine into a ticking time bomb.
Get the new part, talk to Ray at Malloy. Better safe than sorry.

Has anyone ever heard of a main bearing failure on a rotary? I think its pretty rare. If you can find a used set in good shape, I think you'll be ok.

Good luck Sorry mine weren't any good.

paw140 is right. they just dont fail that often. . . and if they do somebody's keeping some secrets from us. haha. when a rebuild is done the bearings are measured to spec. if they spec out then they are reused. your precious malloy reman does the same thing. they offer a great price because they spec everything out. if you send them an engine with good bearings then they are gonna reuse them. i dont think that what im asking is to far-fetched. im just tired of waiting (8 months). i want my car back on the road and replacing the bearings with new ones is not only gonna cost me. . . its gonna be time consuming. i dont know anybody around here thatll press them in/out for me. thats why im doing this.

so, again, if anybody is getting a reman please contact me.

thanks,
paul

oh yeah, thanks paw140 for trying!!!

What makes you think its bad, a little copper showing at the seam is normal and people say a good used bearing is better than a new one.
