i have this problem with my brand new third gen RX-7 TT. it constantly smells like oil. i was onderinf what is causing this problem. Is it serious or minor? i also see white smoke coming from under the hood after i have been driving it for a while. I also noticed a ticking sound coming from the motor. IS this normal? i am obviously a first time owner of the rotary motor so any help on these matters would be greatly appreciated.....

 

whats your fuel consumption like? high? low?

 

brand new turbo?..maybe one of the oil line is leaking and causing the turbine to burn the oil? I used to have the smoke problem and i found out that the motor was leaking oil from the oil pan and the oil which spilled from the pan got onto the cat. and that was causing it to smoke after driving....

 

yeah, what he^ said, could also be leaking from stationary gear

 

mine always smells like burnt oil when i get in it. i actually kinda miss that smell when i'm not driving it. i can't even bring myself to put an air freshener in it

 

I have the same problem, blue/white smoke galore!!! very unattractive

 

re suzuki i think nailed it. i am having the entire oil system looked at this weekend and i will have to take a look at the turbo. im not sure if its new or not. is that what would be causing the smell of oil i frequently smell? also there is a ticking sound coming from the motor its self. i hope thats normal?!?!
