I believe if the odometer isnt displaying and numbers, the only fix for it is to replace the whole unit. I dont think there is any way for you to know the current milage, or find out (other than maybe carfax or something)

mazdaboy,

Do the interior lights work?

The reason I ask is that I had an electrical problem a few years back that happened off and on. I would loose power to my interior lights, stock BOSE radio system, odometer would be off, and a few other things (lights on chime). In searching for the problem I somehow fixed it (mostly likely just moving wires around and making sure all connections were good) but I'm just wondering if the problem I had is similar to what you are seeing.

everything else works the door chime the interior lights all the gauges all the buttons light up the stereo works. i don't think that this is a grounding issue.

In that case, I would pull the dash out and check all the connectioins (if you haven't yet).

The last time I had my motor out the odometer would light up but not display anything, after everything was back in the car, it worked properly, so at least for me I believe it was a grounding issue.
