is it just me or does the car feel much more nimble and aggressive with about a 1/3 of a tank?

hmm...well considering your hauling around 1/3 the weight of a full gas tank, i would assume so.

i always keep between a 1/2 tank and a 1/4

I'm thinking about going to a fuel cell, plus the stock baffling is worthless and the wiring/pump hanger is a joke

Weight diffference between 1/4, 1/2 or even 3/4 tank is minimal.

I just put 20 bucks today, forgot gas prices went down a bit and i got 10.20 gallons. It brought me to slightly above 3/4 tank.

Car feels the same. I normally fill it to half way or just above 1/2.

No noticeable difference.

Plus i dont like the idea of driving the car wih a low tank of gas.

'you' may not notice...but it does make a big difference. gasoline weighs 6.216lbs per gallon. thats 63.4lbs of gasoline added to your car.

thats exactly why i only fill the tank for long trips

FWIW: Every gallon of gas has a weight of about 8 pounds.

Fill your backpack with 10 bricks and run. Then take out 7 of them and run. Do you feel the difference? :]

I thought it was'nt good to operate an FD with less then a half tank due to fuel starvation during hard left turns.

Course it makes a difference but its not enough to actually suspect a noticeable difference.

They said 100lbs off will take .1 off your 1/4 run. Can someone honestly say they will notice a difference going 13.1 and a person going 13.0, relatively speaking?

I didnt say it WONT make a difference but a person who normally fills to 1/2 (like me) and then by accident fills to 3/4, theres no difference. Its like 20-30lbs.

That's a bit extreme. I think 1/8th tank in street driving is about where I'd get worried. 1/4 tank on the track.

As for the original question, I don't notice much difference. But I don't get to run courses with other variables held the same.

Never noticed much. I wouldn't go below 1/4 tank for aggressive driving. The gas tank design is a pos and it is very easy to starve the engine of fuel. Mazda tried to remedy this in later models but your best best is to get a surge cover, or keep more gas in the tank.

It does make a difference, I notice it at the track when I'm running on empty its easier to power out of corners.

This is a stupid argument unless it applies to the track.

when i 1st got my fd i was unaware of it starving at 1/4 tank on hard corners, 1st hard corner it starved & died. scared the **** out of me thought i blew it up lol. now always keep it full. never really noticed a difference but maybe its because i'm 260 lbs, few less cheeseburgers & i can run full tank of fuel lol

I can tell the difference between a full tank and not so full. I can even tell the difference in acceleration when I have a passenger with me (usually my 120 lb g/f).

I never really noticed much of a difference. Never had a problem with the stock baffling or wiring/pump hanger either. The only problem I ever had with the stock baffling is when they broke on my 93 tank. I now run the later 95+ tank with hyperion's fuel starvation cover thing.
