I finally went to the dragstrip

ZoomZoom and I went to Import Wars in Epping, NH today. His car is down in Jersey so he didn't get to race, but mine was there and I got three runs in.

Keep in mind this was my first time ever being at a dragstrip.

The first run was 13.000 at 108.41. I was damn pleased with that. Check out my horrible reaction time and even worse 60'

The next run we're not gonna talk about, lets just say I bogged the launch and missed 2nd...

The third run I was hoping for 12's, but that just wasn't in the books for me today. It ended up being a 13.307 at 108.39. r/t was better than the first run, but 60' was worse.

Theres more pics too, nothing too exciting. A couple of me on the track taken by ZoomZoom. A couple of the field waiting in the pits.

More Pics Here

Forgot to add. This was with 3/4 of a tank of gas, spare tire, jack, etc., and crappy Dunlop SP Sport 5000 ALL SEASON tires.

Mike measured elevation to be just over 100' above sea level. Temps were high 40's to low 50's, don't know about humidity.

Damn! I was thinking this would be pics of Lime Rock or the track in NH.

I'm sure it was fun anyway

a 2.7 60'!! You're suppose to do the burnout by the water, not when the light turns green.

That's pretty good though for your first time. I bet you're right around a 12.6 with a good launch.

It was tough to find a good launch RPM. I have non-seq turbos with only a downpipe and intake, so if I launched at anything below about 3000 it would bog, and the wheels were spinning like crazy on the first launch (~4000 rpm). I really wanted to make a few more runs, but lines were way too long. Next year though...

Launch higher and slip the clutch more. Take it to around 4500rpm and just slip it like crazy.

That is an odd timeslip! To pull a 13.000 with a 2.7 60' would usually get like 115 mph. Not bad though.

It was a great run for his first time out. There were ALOT of slower cars there. Now he has to buy himself a helmet if he wants to run again. He had a pretty long drive Glad it was worth it for him.

BTW, theres another part to this day. After the first 13.000 run they should have kicked me off the track for not having a helmet. Well they didn't, but Mike offered to bring me back to his house to get his helmet so I could race again. Thanks again Mike.

Why else would I own the car if not to drive it? You think I'm paying that much money to own the damn thing so I can baby it and not have any fun with it? Hell NO!

BOOO! smartasses! I'll race, I went to the last one but it was rained out, and now my car has no front bumper after my accident. Its going to take me all winter to get the car to where I want it, and hopefully run some decent numbers, we will see. Just dont want to race it before I think its ready. I want to be able to run higher boost and run with the big boys

Nice stuff 911GT2. We'll have the same power mods soon enough, and I hope I can run as well as you did I suck horribly at launching.

What's the best method for the stock sequential twins?

You suck? I had a 2.7 60'!! That civic handed me my *** off the line. I believe I am the one who sucks at launching. But I just decided I'm going back tomorrow. You were right Mike, I'm addicted! I want 12's!

of course i am not callin you a lier but...that timeslip is some sort of mechnical error...or something is up. With that 60'time and a trap of 108 you should be running a low 14..of course anything is posible but i dont get it. A perfect launch on street tires...ie 1.90-2.0 would yield a 13 flat for a 108 trap and with your mods.
In addition moost drag racers will tell you that .1 off the 60foot time means .2 up top. So say u ran ET streets and clicked off a 1.75...you would be in the 11s with only 260rwhp...see my point?

I thought it was odd too, but I keep checkin it over and over, and it still says 13.000 with a 2.7 60'. My 13.3 run had a 2.753 60', is that more believable?

I don't know what to tell you, but I have the slip right here in front of me, and ZoomZoom to vouch for me.

I thought the slip was wrong at first too, I saw a 2.7 60' and 13.0 quater and thought he was modded all to hell.

It's very possible you tripped the lights, which means it ends up reading 0.5 sec faster, only in the 1/4.

Yeah his 1/8th mile was a 9 but trapping at 86 he should pick up some time in the top end. I would think a 13.5 would be a little more accurate.

I saw the slip. I was at the track. If it was a mechanical error there is no way to tell. The car was likely to have more power off the line and heat the stock intercooler so much power drops way off on the top end. He did have another 13 second run with an even worse 60 ft. It looks right too me but anything is possible.
