I can see my flywheel from the engine bay?
I am removing all my solenoid valves and emission hoses for my single turbo conversion and after I took my manifold off I noticed I can see my flywheel from the top of the engine. I don't recall it being open on my last 3rdgen and have never noticed it on any other 3rdgens. Is this normal? Just got this car and it has had many hands on it with some questionable work done on it in the past. What part is missing if there is one? The opening is about 4"x 1" and is on the top of the transmission housing on the drivers side. I will post a pic if needed (batteries died on camera this morning). Is it a big problem to run like this?
Thanks in advance,
Shawn

Sounds like a plate that covers the trans!! 2 small bolts hold this plate in.dont remember the name of the peice but it should be on there so try to get one. or fab one out of peice of sheat metal.. it is flat then bends almost 90* to sit up against the trans houseing...

There are two "windows". One on top slightly to the driver's side and then another one on the bottom on the passenger side. Each are held in with 2 bolts.
You are missing one piece. But you should look to make sure you are not missing the bottome one also.

Yeah- I can see my flywheel too. Mechanic forgot to replace the cover when he did my clutch job. Stink from clutch now gets drawn into the heater/AC air intake right near the cover plate.
