Today I decided to drive by Pettit to see how they fared during the hurricane. The whole neighborhood looked like a war zone! Part of Pettits roof was missing and it looked like the building was twisted. No one was there but the neighbors were out and they said that Cam was there earlier packing up.

Does anyone know what is going on? looks to me like i am going to have to look for a new mechanic....

 

Holy ****! I feel bad for them. I've bought a few parts from them in the past. Hopefully they will get things up and running again soon.

 

 

damn, that sucks. My GF is stranded in FL right now because she can't get a flight to Atlanta for the connection.

 

Say it an'it so, the community needs them.

thats a shame man ...i was hoping to get my car tuned by them pretty soon.....

 

damn. i hope they dont call it quits. they definitely have a good rep so starting back up shouldnt be too bad.

DAMNIT!!! I was trying to take my car down to them for a hose job and check up . . . . i have no idea where to take my car if they don't get a new place of buisness . . .

Wow... a guy on this forum is in the middle of a 3 rotor conversion and has his car there. Yikes!

 

Damn this sucks because I'm in need of their fender flares.

 

I am sure they have insurance.

Hopefully they were just packing up the products to put in storage or relocate them while they get everything repaired.. At least thats what I hope they are doing...

On a serious note, I hope all is well with Cam and Candi. They work hard for their money, and it is a shame to everyone down there that is going through this.

it looks like we're about to turn to a surfboard soon and Washington and Oregon will be under another load of ash........

 

I think Pettit is a good rotary shop and I hope they are back in business fast. We cannot afford to start loosing experienced rotary businesses, as it limits our options.

 

Damn, David Hayes' 20b conversion is still going on there. Wonder if it is ok?

 

This is America they will rebuild and be bigger and better ! ! !

I dont know them personally, I am just saying the way it usually works in America ! ! !

I think this is a good thing, everything happens for a reason . . .

 

PETTIT UPDATE!

I'm the guy with the 20B conversion going on (and because of the hurricanse, on and on and on...). Just spoke with Tyler at Pettit and they took a pretty big hit from Hurricane Jeanne. Poor Tyler, the dude's from Canada and he picks this year to move to Florida!

Anyway, Pettit's okay but they did take a bigger hit this time than from Frances. More of thier roof was damaged and they had flooding from this in thier office and in the parts room. The dyno room's walls also shifted due to structural damage to the shop behind them.

They're now in the process of cleaning up the mess so they can get back up and running. Tyler estimates it will take them about one week to accomplish this. They're currently running on generators but they have no power to run their lifts or to do anything major (like finish my car!).

FYI - the sales group is in a different location so Jeff at Pettit can still assist you.

Luckily, they had no damage to any of the cars in the shop, including mine! So, the 20B conversion project will be able to be finished.

Cam, Candi, and the rest of the Pettit gang are great people and I am sure that they will rebound from this.

 

Glad to hear that it's not as bad as initially thought, and that all customer cars are ok.
