Trying to reach Turbojeff

I'm trying to reach turbojeff. Have a question about one of your project rx-7 pics.

http://community.webshots.com/album/69912816VsRYvb

the questions pertains to the "interior shot of frame rail" picture.

Thanks in advance.
Steve

jeff, I was wondering if the crossmember that is in your "interior shot of frame rail" picture is bolted on, or a welded piece. By crossmember, I am referring to the rail that is furthest to the right when looking the picture. I believe that in a stock car, this is what the battery sits on. I noticed that in a later picture of frame rail as assembled on your project car, the crossmember seems to be missing. That same crossmember is missing from the white FD front end that you have on your site. I'm guessing that when you repaired the frame rail, you had to replace the crossmember. The reason I'm asking is that my crossmember seems to be severly corroded and doesn't support the battery tray properly, causing the battery to rub against other engine components. I'm having a new engine put in by KD, and was thinking that if that piece needed to be repaired, I'd have structural issues w/ my car. And would need that done before the engine is put back in. However, if it is a bolt on, I wouldn't be as concerned. Any thoughts?

If you don't know what I mean by "crossmember", may I copy a picture from your website so that I can mark it up and post here with my question?

Thanks for any help!

You can copy all the pics you want.

That crossmember the battery sits on is a very thin bolt in part. If I were you I'd buy a new one, they are about $40-50 from Mazda.

Usually that crossmember is one of the last things put back into the engine compartment after the engine is reinstalled.

Hope that helps!

Thanks! I think I got it, but, on account of the fact that I've been known to completely misunderstand things....Please look at the attached pics and tell me if my understanding is correct!

Much appreciated!

Pic one is attached to this message.

Pic two will be in next...
