How to test radiator fan?

So I just got done hooking up rx8 radiator fans, and I was wanting to double check and make sure they work before I install them back into my car. The way it sets it is a non running car until I get everything back together, so my question is how do I test it just to be safe without plugging it in? I didn’t want to risk burning anything up so I haven’t tried hooking the battery directly to it or anything, thanks

I would plug the 2 connectors on the harness,
turn the key, then make a jumper on the diagnostic box in order to ground the TFA connector, then you'll see if the fan is running or not.

If you want to totally test off the car, use jumper wires to test them. Double-check the wiring in the shop manual, it should have 1 wire that's ground and 3 wires that are 12v inputs and it does a certain speed depending on what wire gets 12v. One should be low, one medium, one high.

Be careful that the fans are on a solid surface when you test them. They spin up IMMEDIATELY and if they are on the edge of a workbench or something the sudden torque could knock them off.

I would also hand-spin the fans to make sure they are spinning freely and aren't hitting the shroud or any of the wiring before hooking to 12v.

If possible I would mount them to the radiator prior to testing.

Yea they do spin freely, my old one did not, so I made sure of that lol so by “jumping” them do you mean connect the 3 positives together at the time of applying the 12v?

I tested mine before installing. If I remember correctly, connect the black to ground and the yellow to 12V postive. They will be at high speed.

^Yep. Don't do all 3 wires at the same time - you would do ground to black, then you could do 12v to each of the other 3 wires one at a time. If you just want to spin them up and make sure the motor works and the fan is spinning properly I would just do the black and yellow wires as stated, I don't think you need to test all 3 speeds.
