Installing cruise is easy. You just need the back panel for the steering wheel with buttons, the on/off dash button, and the actuator in the engine bay.

If you are doing an LSX conversion, then I doubt the stock cruise control mechanism is going to work.

As far as which model, with a LSX conversion, the only thing that matters is if you have a sunroof or not, really.

The wiring is pretty much already there (at least from the cockpit to the engine bay). Normally it's just a plug and play getting the parts. The tricky part is the dash button and the steering wheel buttons. However, as I mentioned you'll have to figure something out on the actual cruise control throttle cable going to the LSX throttle control.

I've never followed the LSX guys or their threads, so why would having the sunroof matter? Is it jsut a matter of a weak point in the body from a hole being cut there?

He's trying to figure out if he has an R1 or not. Since he's ripping out the rotary engine, and most likely the suspension has been replaced or going to be; about the only thing left that is going to be different (for the most part) is whether it has a sunroof or not.

Had I remembered what the OP was posting about, I might have figured that out on my own.

call mazda or spend $12 on www.carfax.com they'll tell you everything about your car, including options. And btw, with JDM UIM, USDM cruise doesn't work oh well, pedal to the floor for me!

Does it have a rear wiper? If not, it's probably a PEG/PEP.

As for telling your trim level, it can be a PITA because everything is interchangable(except for the sunroof...which can be done as a real PITA job).

At the end of the day, there are two types of USDM FDs. Those with sunroofs and those without.

Also, LSX_R1, does your FD have a front strut tower bar? And what color is it?

If you go to www.mazdausa.com and register your car under the Owners section, it will ask you for your VIN and some other stuff. Once the VIN is entered it should tell you what trim level you have. It will also tell you what the original colors for the interior and exterior are and whether the car is an automatic or 5-speed.

That sounds like a PEP to me. All 7s with sunroofs from 93 were Tourings, but 94s could have been Touring or PEP. All 95s were PEPs.
