How to tell what fuel pump I have

Just bought a 93 FD, and I noticed that it has a fuel gauge in the engine bay, at idle its 32-33psi. Does this mean I have a different fuel pump? Any way to tell without opening the fuel tank?

Thats either a Fuel Pressure Regulator or its just an under the hood fuel pressure gauge, meaning the previous owner has done some fuel upgrades. It doesn't necessarily mean the previous owner upgraded the fuel pump but it is highly likely. The only way to check would be removing it and taking a look. It's really not that hard to do though. The easiest way to know would be to call the guy you got the FD from.

Thx for the reply, if I open up the fuel tank, do I need to buy anything to put it back, like new gaskets or o rings? And unfortunatly I got the car from a dealer with no info, it has a power fc and a downpipe and this fuel gauge. Thanks

first...no prob.

Second. No, you don't have to replace anything.

I found this for you to help the process.

Removing fuel pump (credit to Bacon):
Remove trunk mat, 4 10 mm hold the aluminum cover on, from there disconnect the white wiring harness, undo the ground (5/16?or 8mm) then open the gas cap, then (hopefully your doing it on a non pressurized system (sat overnight) or you released the fuel pressure. Un do the 2 hoses that go into the tank, take your time b/c most likely their petrified on there. Unscrew the 2 10 mm plastic breather connections (they can be tucked out of the way) Then undo the 10 screws that hold the pump assembly in then gently lift out, remove old pump and re-install new pump reverse of disassembly. As far as precautions, your working with gasoline, don’t smoke, disconnect battery just to be safe, and while the tank is open make sure you don’t drop anything into it. Also be careful when pulling it out, you could end up with a non functioning gas gauge.

Also, to identify if you have a stock fuel pump, the stock pump will have a beige top and have a slightly greenish tint if premix was ever used. If not then it would still be a gold. If it is a Supra TT (nippondenso) it will all be the same color but a grey top. Also it will read 195130-1020 on the top. If it is a walbro 255 then it is aluminum with a black top and be fairly small.
