If you are serious about going single turbo, removing the twin turbos should be child's play. Are you actually talking about the physical removal of the turbos or are you asking about the basic process of going single turbo?

The manual show the sequence. A good mechanic can figure this on their own even without a manual.

First remove stuff that blocks the turbos from coming out, or just is in the way.

The air filter box would be a good place to start on top.
Since the turbo can't come out if they are connected to the exhuast, the DP is another place to start on the bottom. The turbos are water cooled, thus you need to drain the radiator, another starting point.

Go for it!

It's not too hard. Remove all the stuff around it, like the intake stuff and the downpipe. There are coolant and oil lines that need to be disconnected. Unbolt it from the block and pull it out from the top. The job starts to get difficult if you start breaking the exhaust and turbo studs.

Step 1 is removing all the heat shields and a nice bath in PB Blaster.
