How to prepare for 300 mile road-trip?
I'm going get my FD this weekend and I will be driving it 300 miles home. I was wondering what I should bring/do before or during the trip to make sure I have a pleasant and safe drive home. I'm going get a bottle or 2 of MMO for fill-ups, a quart of oil, and after I pick up the car I'm going to stop at a Auto Zone to get a bottle of coolant. BTW, which type of coolant do the FD's use? The green or orange? Thanks.

Gallon of coolant (green)
distilled water
Quart of oil
fire hydrant
tool set
quarters/cell phone
I've made the trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco in the blazing hot summer a couple times with no problems at all. It's about 450 miles.
Ive never heard of FD's having problems during long trips. It's pretty much standard procedure as with any car. Check oil, tire pressure, coolant level..etc etc

fart on a friends head!!!
do a full tune-up, bring some distilled water instead of coolant. its cheaper. if you have to use coolant then get the orange. no green for the fd. check your tires. change your oil. check your belts. check all fluids. . . . tranny and diff too. get plenty of rest. bring more than a quart of oil. . . you never know. im sure im leaving some stuff out too.
oh yeah, and a really hot chick that likes to give "road-head"!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright, well thanks guys. I'm all set. I was going to do pretty much all of these things. I just wanted to make sure there weren't any FD specifics I'd need to do before the trip. Thanks again.

"> When attending the Rotary seminar given by Dave at KD Rotary here in PA this

He had an engine failure and found it attacked the O-rings, chewed them and left alot of white crustation. I can't remember the mileage it took before he tore the engine apart, but I recall he said it was within a period of 1 year or so. The best source of coarse is Dave himself. Stop by their site and drop him a line.
He said it works great in piston engines as the gaskets have shown to negative reaction to it and he was able to see a few degrees drop in temp, but in rotary engines, the O-rings are too fragile and sensative. Now please remember that this is Dave's opinion and several factors could have resulted in the failure, ie it is not a scientific experiment, but due to this he urged us to stay away from Dexcool.
Before the subject comes up, I will go ahead and mention he found no difference (atleast on the street) using Redline Water Wetter. His comments were, it didn't help but didn't hurt anything either. His advice on lowering engine temps is to bore out the cooling passages in the housings, the idea is to keep it rough (ie don't go for a polished finish) to increase the surface area the coolant is in contact with the housing. He found this yields 8 to 10 degree difference. Of coarse there is also the obvious fact that aftermarket radiators are the best cooling mod..."
just something to consider

ya...make sure the chick that's going to be giving you "road head" has a nice pair of sneakers.....so she can give you a piggy back ride to the gas station...
...you should be fine with the normal b.s. i would get a fire ext. to keep in the car at all times...these cars are known to catch on fire...better safe then sorry....

WHAT EVER YOU DO, DON'T SIT ON YOUR WALLET. Put it somehwere else other than your back pocket. Other than that do what you should do on every car. Oil change, check all fluids, tire pressure, make sure your spare is good and has jack equipment, be sure to have a cell phone on board and bring some good CD's. Most important, ENJOY!
