I saw another Chaste White FD auto in NoCal for sale last spring, not the same mileage (I think it had around 50k) but it was in excellent condition. That car sat for months on autotrader, went from 15k to 12k, then I don't know where.
That pearl white car also had 60k on it and was modded a bit. It might have also been beaten on to. I recently PM'd pablo_escobar and he hasn't been on for a while.

the pearly white FD is also re-painted is it not?




ok... lets just put it this way. Over the last week I've been busy under my car. Cleaning everything. From the fuel lines to the heat shields to the underbody coating, diff, subframes, engine bay paint etc. etc.

There is SO MUCH dirt/grime it's unreal. And my car was from Cali. I can only imagine what a local BC car looks like under there.

I think it's worth something to have a brand new underbody. All the bolts won't be corroded etc.. 40k is a bit much. But if I was planning on doing a full restoration/ engine build it would be nice to start with a shell like that.

that is a lot of work
btw i swung by the mazdad dealership to see it
the sales rep there wasnt interested in hearing the backstory on this car

Did you see it?

I bet he didn't care because you weren't buying it. I sell motorcycles and the other guys there are the same way. I don't mind having a good chat about it since there is nothing better to do this time of year. But for some people, if you're not buying... they don't care and thing you're wasting their time.

I was just there today. They told me it's a 95 automatic with 200miles on it.

But, there's no warranty, because Mazda Canada doesn't honor the warranty to US car and something that old. Even though it's never been register.

A private company can offer warranty for about CAD 8000. and just will just bring up the price to close to 50,000.

hmm... I wonder what else can I get for 50,000. STi? EVO? G37? etc etc?

I don't know who you spoke to, but regardless of what they say the warranty is still valid. Mazda can not void a warranty on a car that has never been registered.

I went there a few days ago and it wasn't there anymore. They said they brought it out to the new Chilliwack Wolfe Mazda location.

Yeah i saw it it was at the Subaru Dealership outside in the rain.

Warranties are transferable between countries when the original owner still has the car.
Case in point when my Mom moved to Florida from BC, she took her 1990 Eagle Talon with her as did my Dad with his Tahoe. Both manufacturers honored the original warranty in the states.
(Offtopic but my Mom still has the first Eagle Talon TSI AWD registered in Canada)

Anyways Mazda Canada will not honor a warranty on US production car that has been imported into Canada. (very common rule) This applies to gray market cars in England.

Also the head sales guy at the dealer told me there is no warranty on the car.

Personally, not more than any other clean chassis.

Spending big money on a brand new FD would be great for a few years. Then, it would become plagued with the very engineering flaws of all the older cars. I would rather spend my money on a well sorted single turbo car.....

Well they all need to get their story straight since I spoke with 2 sales guys on the phone and they both said it had full warranty.

If that is the case, no way in hell it's worth half of what they're asking.

I spoke to Alex, he first told me there's a warranty in place. But later on, I talked to sales manager when I had some warranty question, and he has confirmed that there will be no warranty.

Mainly because the car is too OLD.

I wonder what could go wrong with 15 years rotary engine. Espeically we don't know if all the fluids are still from factory.

If they sell it for less then 30G(drive away) and with a partial warranty then I might still remotely consider it.

I would tear that thing apart before buying it. I would have a rotary shop do a full inspection on the engine and engine components. Compression test etc... we all know cars get RAPED at dealerships and with 200 miles I`m sure this car has had a nice beating now and then.

If I were to buy it, it would get a new rad, AST, IC, rats nest hoses and boost controller along with the entire fuel system getting an overhaul before driving it. If I did that I would expect it to last for quite some time.

the asking price of the car should be what it was listed at in 1994 (or 95.. whatever year it is). its still a new car. 40k isnt bad considering a touring model was listed at 55k (cdn) back then.

You would seriously be interested in a car that's Automatic?

I think a warranty wouldn't be in your best interest. If the motor pops in ur car , would you want to take it to them to fix? Who they gonna get to work on your car?

That dealership wasn't even around when the FD was out. There were cows still grazing in Langley then.
