How much would you PAY? 94 JDM RX-7
Hopefully this subject hasn't been reviewed yet, but I did a search and couldn't come up with anything.
Looking to purchase something UNIQUE, FAST, and RELIABLE and thought this was a good choice:
94 JDM spec RX-7
Can anyone fill me in on the pros and cons of getting a JDM RX-7 compared to a US model? The seller states the only thing wrong with the car are the seats are a bit worn, minor scratches, and no radio. Mileage is less than 10k and seller guarentees the motor will start and run. What should I be looking out for and are there any potential problems other than registration. I want to use the car for the weekends and maybe some street racing, are there any reliable issues I should be worried about? Any input will be greatly appreciated.
What would you pay/offer?
Thanks

"These are Rolling Chassis Only So NO ENGINE,TRANNY,AXLES are included so Please Don't ask these are For serious Tuners Only so Please don't waste any time if your Looking for a Fully Built JDM RHD Vehicle Ready to Race. "
Good buy, if you want a car that doesnt run and comes with no power train.

Why would you get the '94? It's almost the exact same design as our '94's, enginewise. It will have the same issues as a US-spec car, and you still won't be able to go to drivethrough restaurants either.
If you're going to the trouble of getting a JDM car, bring the 99-spec RX-7.

Think about how to get register first!!!!!!! unless you only take it to the track, but why you don't get a latest version like 99+?
It has some much trouble to get a RHD's car legal in US, otherwise you will see more powerful JDM's car on the street like Skyline, 99+ FD, Chaser......

pugg57: tried the search, but couldn't find anything on this particular vehicle when entering EBAY JDM for the last month. If you do know where I can find the thread at please post it...
SpeedKing & Little 7: thanks for the thread, but I think the only issue there is registration and I know of a way around. It might not be legit, but I live in Utah and will take my chances with the HighWay Potrol.
diablone: I have several cars already, including a Porsche, a M5, and a CLK430, BUT not a ROTARY!!! Just wanted to see what the big hype was about and have always loved the styling. Here are some pictures if you wanted to see my colection: CARS Also have a RSX and a Civic SI I'm currently playing with. And your absolutely right about the RHD, it's all about being different!
FeatherTheClutch & Assud: if you go down to the bottom of the listing and read the details, this one actually comes with everything.
scotty305: what are the differences from the 99 to the 94 and if you can point me to where I can get one, please do so. And the drive-thru issue isn't a big deal, I always roll in pairs
Icemastr: it seems like you know what your talking about, so find me one and I'll pay you a commission. i really thought this was a good deal since most US-Spec Rx-7's are going for a lot more, but if you have the connections, please share them.
Sprockett: i'm looking at the RHD issue as a positive factor, so no probelm there.
Thanks for all of your input and please reply with any other info. you may have. I will probably kick-back for a second concerning this deal until this thread makes my mind up!

Model year differences are toward the bottom.
Ask those importer people if they can get the newer car. Personally, I wouldn't give money to anyone who writes as poorly as the author of that import website, it shows they don't put a lot of time or effort into their work.

Look, man - it's going to be very difficult to legalize and register the JDM FD. The only way to get around that is to NEVER street it and use it only on the track or trailor it to shows. If you plan to drive on the roads, you will find it very difficult to get registered (many legal steps and tons of red tape), which means NO insurance and NO license plate, both of which will result in heavy fines, and they might impound the car. That's why I say it's not worth it. It's not THAT cool to drive on the right. It's just not worth it.

I really don't see what's the drill with RHD. Yes, in Japan, people drive on the wrong side of the road. In Italy, the steering wheels are on the left, and they make some good race cars themselves. I wonder if British/Jap folks with European or American cars have a strange fascination to make them LHD. . .
