How much would you guys pay for a USED Power FC with commander?

Just a question really to see what the consencus is.

I see threads in the for sale section all of the time where people are selling their used Power FC's for $700 - $900. Back in the day that was a decent deal since they were $1200 bucks new. But now we can get them new for $750.

I can see why some people still list them for $700 +, since probably they paid the $1200 for theirs. But are people actually buying used items for almost the price of new? Is it a little known fact about how cheap we can get them nowdays?

So just wondering how much would you guys pay for a used one? Considering all of the risks that are involves in buying a used item.

depends on if its tuned and by who? for a base map used one should have a depreciation on them and still be worth 500 - 600.00. If its tuned that can vary on how much was invested and how much its worth to the buyer. ya dig.

As far as I'm concerned a tuned one does not add any additional value since it was custom tuned for the vehicle that it was in.

Basically you won't get the optimum benefits unless you get that ECU tuned for your components. That's why whenever someone adds a new component they should really go in for a retune. Besides would you trust that their maps won't run your car lean?

Couple weeks ago Gotham Racing has Power FC and Commander up for sale $850.00 brand new. Stock out of box it will support intake, dp, catback.

Currently:

Gotham Racing $999.00 (went up)
Rx7.com $1049.00
Rx7store: $1025.00
Ebay: $750.00 (but careful or you will end up with a unit that wont work on 93-95 FDs )

I think 700-799 is fair. I would definitely settle for cheaper but if I was looking for a used PFC with just the resetted base map, THE MOST I would pay is $750ish. I thitnk that's more then fair. Another good question to ask yourself is how much you would sell yours for if you no longer needed. I recently sold mines for $700.00 with commander.

I picked the 600-699, but really paying a bit over 700 isn't a bad deal at all.

A map already set up in it doesn't add value IMHO.

I also think a newer PFC has more value than the older model - the FD3S2 versions are the old ones with the unit-specific Commanders, and the FD3S4 versions are the newer ones with the universal commanders. It is believed that the newer PFC's have a better base map to support more mods to start with.

Typically, if the gap between new and used isn't that much, I WAY prefer new. Nice to get all the manuals, the box, etc., not to mention a Commander that isn't scratched up and beat.

I bought my PFC/Commander new for $750 on Ebay from RHDJapan. Still works like a champ, not a single problem with it.

I stand corrected. I guess it really does not matter who tuned it and how unless you have exact mods of the prior user. I definately agree with what Dale was saying about newer is better.

tuners usally cut people brake on tuning if you bought the pfc from them too. so by the time you think about it unless your getting a really good deal or plan on doing the tuning your self its going to cost around the same amount.

ebay or straight from this dudes: click under electronic

http://www.jappartsspecialist.com/main.htm

you just have to make sure that you know which model works with your car. People here on the forum have bought from them and give them good feedback.

A next gen power FC... interesting. Gonna go check that out.

Yes - they are IDENTICAL to the base mod maps. Pretty much the whole unit is identical to the current units sold in the US, save for not coming with the English instructions, which you can readily download. Car has been running and driving great for MANY months now.

I got mine from Jap Parts Specialists off Ebay - see the link above. $750 plus $45 shipping, brand new in the box. DAMN good deal

Ok I just called Apex'i USA and they told me that: yes they are expecting a next gen model but NO TIME soon. Which then I inquired on 'what is no time soon' and the answer was a couple of years.

Honestly, I take apex'i response very lightly. As I'm sure they still want to sell their old models. If they tell me that they are expecting a new version soon I'm obviously not going to buy their current one.

I swear to jebus all mighty. I can't remember where it was or if it was in talking to Inukai from Re Ammemiya but the commander is different and all these other stuff.

Not to say something for nothing but you kinda had there 5 preprogrammed buttons. I used to be Sti owner and we all you EcuTek which has preprogrammed maps that you can switch while driving would kinda be same thing also more readouts.

Anyways I would still buy one for that kind of a price. Do you think Jason or Ari would match those prices?
