Question How much gas do you guys race with???

I'm talking on the strip...

I know there are SERIOUS issues of hitting boost when you are low on fuel, BUT there are some damn good advantages of weight reduction of racing with say, a 1/4 tank or less...

What do you guys think? Leave as much as a half tank in or what??? Thanks...

I wouldn't run anything less than 1/2 tank road racing or drag racing...

Weight savings not worth it

I ran out of fuel because of sloshing gas while running 1/4 tank autocrossing, blew 2 runs doing this, went and put 6 more gallons in and problem was gone.

1/4 of a tank, weight reduction is always a plus

no less than a 1/4 tank. Reason Hey I need traction, plus no fuel when gas sloshes to rear of tank under extreme load = lean running engine = Rebuild.

i dunno if any of you have ever looked at the insides of an FD fuel tank ... it's a little, well, strange.

there's a baffle on the inside that runs all the way around ... forming like a box on the interior. i didn't look close enough to notice if it all drains back to the center, but i know it does become important during auto-x and possibly road racing. sometimes, the severe changes in direction will slosh fuel over the baffle, and lower the available fuel ... bad if you're running below a quarter tank. (as mentioned in RX7FAN's post) ... weird design.

For autocross I can't run with less than 1/2 tank or I get fuel starvation in hard left sweeping left hand corners.

A quarter of a tank gives you about 5 gallons of fuel. More than enough for autocross and and definitely enough for drag....my experience anyway.

That's about what I run on the strip. Just over a 1/4 tank.
