It is over $800 in PARTS just for all the rear suspension bushings (unless you go through Malloy Mada or Mazdaformance).

Yep, I have kept full records of every $ I have spent on maintenance or modifications. Considering I'm still fairly close to stock, the total expenditure is very scary....

I think I paid $400 for the bushings and $200 in labor. You can contact Mazdatrix and they can tell you which are the most common bushings to wear out. They can also install them as they did mine.

Hey GoRacer, how long did they take for the installation and did they also do an alignment? Isn't it hard to get an appointment at Mazdatrix?

I think I was there for 6 hours but it probably was only 2 hours labor. I would have to open my receipt book and check.

No, I had my alignmen done at Tri-Point but there is also a company in the city of Orange that Racing Beat recomends.

Yes, extremely dificult. I had to wait two weeks for two months. Jon is the only mechanic and is allways swamped. If I remember him correctly, he also worked for Racing Beat and MazdaComp (alot of experience).

I have done all of my bushings myself so far except for the front rubber ones (which I'm looking for time to get to) and the diff bushings (I'm uncomfortable w/ pulling an axle in my own garage w/ out anyones experienced help).
Here is a basic run down of what everything costs...
1. Basic pillowball bushings: 6 of them in the rear, ~$50 a piece, 2 in the lower control arm and one in the end of the wishbone.
2. Diff bushings (2)(~$60 bucks + labor of 3 hours at 65 a piece, on top of differential housing)
3. Large pillow ball bushings (2)($50~75, end of lower control arm where alignment bolt goes)
4. Jimlab bushing set ($350 + apex'i BOV )crapload of them... 8 that go in the front where suspension part bolt to frame, 6 in rear where suspension bolts to frame and also shock mounts, try and find a deal on these!!! they are usually 700 a set)
5. Tie rod ends for P/S rack (~$40-60, simple install except getting them off of the hub!)

Suggestions... look and find a friend that works at a shop. Find, borrow, buy compressor w/ a air hammer use this to remove the metal rings that hold the bushing in which makes pressing them out much easier! Find a crappy set of deep weld large sockets to use to press these suckers in and out.

Additional info: all of these bushings besides the jimlab's were purchased through Eric Smith at roger beasly maz-duh in Austin, Tx 512-459-0009 (tell him Ryker gave you his number and he will hook you up)

**yes this crap can get fairly expensive and time consuming but doing it yourself will save quite a large amount of $!!**

Good luck!
Ryker
P.S. pm me if you have any questions!

hrm from that I'm seeing something like ~1390$ for all the bushings. or is it another ~400 for comp toe links and trailing arms in the rear? not including any labor.

no, I so much do not want to do this.

not to change the subject, but about how many miles should new bushings last? "nylon" bushings?

depends on the driving...of course... O and I forgot to mention the M2 control arms and toe links... that was a pretty penny. I will be selling a spair set of stock toe links I believe (the one w/ 1 bushing in it on each side) soon w/ the jimlab bushings in it for a decent price... I'll keep yall posted!

Sorry for the big bump but I thought I would mention Gotham Racing quoted me at 4 hours labour for the rear bushings.
