How much for a brand new 12b for a 3rd gen?

Is $2700 from the dealer a good deal for the whole block with turbos and all. I need a core though. Anyone have one? Is this a good deal.

No, that's not a good deal. Order a motor from Pineapple racing or get a Mazda re-man from Dave Crowe at Malloy Mazda. I know the search is down but if you scroll back a few days or look in the Vendor forum, you should find contact info.

I think you need a 13B. How many miles are on the motor? As far as I know mazda does not sell a new whole block with turbos and all.

Ok, not sure if you just typed it wrong, but you don't need a 12B..

You want a 13B, and $2700 /w new turbos is a very good deal, but not likely. $2700 is probably just for the block, and you can usually get a reman from mazda from ~2200-2900 so you are on the high end of it..

Check out some of the other places besides mazda, they are not known for quality rebuilds.

Specifically, you need a 13B-rew for an FD. I buy them from my local dealer for $2000 plus core charge ($1000). Ray Crowe at Malloy Mazda in Woodbridge VA sells them for slightly less, but shipping will kill you. The beauty of buying it from you local dealer is that you don't pay shipping.

If they tell you "Our cost is more than $2000!", they don't know what they are talking about. These don't come from Japan, they come from a plant in Florida. They ship them 3-day air too! And, the dealer has to order them in a special way, not with his stock Mazda order. Most dealers have not done this before.

Again, this would just be a shortblock. No turbos, manifolds, solenoid rack, wiring, etc. I would recommend finding a complete used engine with wiring harness and all. You will be farther ahead in the long run, even if the motor is bad. You will at least have a core and all the goodies you need.

Good luck!

Jeff

They do really great work with rebuilds and I fully back them up as would many many other people. But either way, just wanted to give you another option to add to the several that you've already received. Laterz.
