Like the title says...how many times has your FD broken? i just wanna get an estimate of how often they really DO break. break=motor blown/ things going wrong from overheating.

and what do you mean by break? break as in undrivable? or break as in some little part breaking??

 

It's been a year now since I bought mine and has not broken down on me yet.."knocking on wood"....

Just once, when the motor went out after almost 3 years.

 

just once...when my motor blew a month after buying it...hasnt been running since..almost 7 months now... :-(

thats an approximate number.

Thats kind of like asking how many times you have sneezed in your lifetime... The only answer I can give you is ALOT.

 

Only had it since May, but no problems yet that were't immediately fixable. I don't count my "clutch slave" problem, since that's not what it ended up being :p

 

radiator hose, transmission, contaminated gas, engine, battery....so i'm in the five or more in the past three years

 

something seems to pop up every month in my car
heres a list of stuff i can remember that left me stranded

1. lower radiator hose burst in parking lot
2. turbo coolant hose burst in driveway
3. engine blew (damn happy go lucky younger brothers)
4. ignition wire short
5. shifter fell off


this isnt including twin turbo problems, ecu issues, 5th in the tranny, misc interior crap.

its an illness

 

Only down time is when I take her down...never had anything happen for no good reason, that I didn't know why.

Single and haltech

 

3 flat tires
3 blown engines
1 failed AST
1 failed slave cylinder
1 blown main fuse
maybe more but i forgot the rest

 

Goose egg since everything has really been very minor. Haven't had a show stopper yet.

 

there was NEVER a time where the car was undriveable (knock on wood)

but there was one time where it was a pain to drive, (shifting problem, power steering belt breaking off) well i guess thats 2 times..

o and thats in 1 year..

 

My car has been undrivable a few times.

Original turbo coolant hose blew.

Original radiator cracked.

Engine blew (I drove it home though. I guess I could have still driven it )

Original fuel line cracked and set car on fire

Original clutch fork broke.

I still replace a lot of parts but that happens before stuff breaks There have been other things but these were the biggies that I can recall.

 

Once in about two years. A lot of preventive maintenance and care keeps it on the road.
