I swear in all that is holy that when I bought my car in Trussville AL and drove it back to Goldsboro NC I only used 90%-full tank (with a little to spare). -Cruised at 77-78 the whole way (2800rpms)
on mapquest it says -Total Est. Distance: 583.59 miles -
20 gallon tank right?
29 miles to the gallon
in my FD w/intake/downpipe/hollowed out cat/stock exhaust (how I bought it)

well over 300 on the freeway, but between 250-300 around town (little wot driving). I get like 20mpg on the freeway doing around 75-80. I've got: fulll intake, streetport, boost controller running 11psi max, downpipe and catback.

Based on 18 usable gallons (my experience):
290 All city--spirited--always in boost during acceleration 12 --> 15#;
300-320 mixed city/hwy spirited;
320+ hwy cruise, 80+ mph
NOTE:
I once had an ECU problem that cut my mileage in half with no other changes. Had I not had a history with the car, I would not have known there was anything wrong. Mileage came back after replacing the ECU, along with improved drivability. If your mileage is really low (for a street car), then there's probably something wrong --or-- you have a tuning issue; it is possible to get decent mileage with the FD.

BTW, that's all city, Red Light to Red Light Driving, and Only Once or twice to I get significantly above 0 psi

I'm lucky to see 190 for "City" driving. I haven't driven it on the interstate for any significant distance to measure "Highway" mileage. If I go to Deal's Gap in April, I'll find out.

I got 411 miles out of 16.2 gallons when I brought my car home from Chicago. 25.4 mpg. That was going about 84 mph betweeen Albuquerque and a few miles east of Tucson.
I usually get about 15.4-15.7 mpg around town. Somewehere around 270-280 miles per tank.

Damn, how far down do you guys let the needle go?
I get MAYBE 220 as the needle approaches the 1/4 Mark. And I only have a MP and M2 Exhaust as far as mods go.
Are you guys posting most of your mileage as the needle drops to E? Why, with the threat of misfiring with such a low amount of gasoline (And those blown motor stories), would you risk such a thing?
Oh, so yea I rate 16-18mpg, keep in mind, I don't take the FD out unless I can do a lot of WOT "Spirited" stuff, and usually the drive isn't all highway if any at all. Mostly twisties.

I do know I get between 16-19mpg depending on how I drive. My car is very lightly modded.

i think this was posted before but ill reply again anyway
lets see..on my last long trip (highway mostly) i got 144 miles for a 1/4 tank, mostly cruising (70mph) and wot pulls 1st and 2nd after each toll booth LOL
so thats 144 miles for every 1/4, times 4 which is 576 miles total, divided by 20 or 20.1 whatever gallons (fuel capacity) and that = 28.8 MPG highway
give or take a MPG

damn I get 210 if I'm lucky most of the time it's about 180 miles per tank full. All of my local gas attendants know me fairly well.

I've gone about 380 or so on a tank (didn't want to wait TOO long to fill up) on highway drive, minimal boosting.... only about 6mpg on VIR, though...

best: 409.6 miles (1 long journey at 56-65mph, no acceleration never mind boost and IIRC 59.6l was required when I stopped) Was at night so headlights up, theoretical maximum of just over 450 from a full tank in daylight. To get over 500 miles would require 02 feedback switched off and running a special lean map, or a faulty 02 sensor.
worst: <90 miles (on-track)

The most accurate way to calculate mpg is...
1. Fill your tank until the pump shuts off by itself. Do not "top off" the tank.
2. Reset your odometer.
3. Drive.
4. Refill tank until pump shuts off by itself. Do not "top off" the tank.
5. Divide miles on odometer by gallons on pump to get mpg.
6. If the result is more than about 21-22 mpg, check your math.
