How to make "whoosh" sound with stock bov

I know this question was asked a couple months ago, but i couldnt find the thread. Anyway, what exactly do u do?? Are there any downfalls by doing this because i heard that it could make ur idle low or possibly stall the car. Any other info will be well appreciated.

Disconnect the BOV hose from the airbox. Not very loud though

I rode around like that for a while and didn't notice anything different with idle or performance. Never heard of anyone having trouble with it either.

The only downfall that I can think of is the possibility to make an oily mess in the engine compartment. If your turbo leaks a little oil into the intake (like mine does...others have had this problem too, but not everybody) then some of that oil will spew out the BOV when it vents. Other than that, there really is no drawback to this "mod"

Ok, i am still unsure which hose it is. I went to look at the setup and i see a couple of possibilities. Which hose do i unplug. Is it the one to the left of the thickest one??

Ok, lets see if I can explain this. Standing in front of the car, look at the back of your air box. To the left (passenger side) of the two large intake hoses, there are two smaller hoses, about 1" in diameter. The bottom one should be the BOV hose. To be sure, follow it back and see where it connects to the y-pipe. If it connects to the middle of the y-pipe, right underneath the rubber coupler, then it is the BOV hose. If it connects to the back of the y-pipe, then it is the CRV hose.

It doesn't really hurt to disconnect either one of these hoses, so don't worry about getting the wrong one. If you get the wrong one (the CRV) you'll know because it won't blow off after shifts.

Just make sure you disconnect it at the air box, and plug the hole to the air box so it doesn't suck in unfiltered air.

Honestly, that is a good question...when I bought my FD (about 3 years ago), it came with an Apexi BOV, and there was already a little black rubber cap covering the hole in the intake box. I always assumed that it came with the Apexi BOV.

I don't know where to get one of those....maybe an auto parts store? I know I have seen smaller rubber caps at my local Pep Boys, maybe they have larger ones too.

Anybody else know where to get those things?

Most auto parts stores carry the little rubber caps, but when you ask them where they are they have no clue what your talking about. I used the liitle rubber "feet" from the bottom of a folding chair along with a hose clamp.

Roll down your window and make the BOV "woooosh" with your mouth. You will look and sound so cool!

I picked up those little rubber things at the local home base. Works great. I think they are in the plumbing section.

You can find the caps in any auto parts store. Just ask where they keep all the misc. auto items and you should be able to find them there. At Discount Auto Parts they stock them next to the hose clamps.

Oh, and yelling out the window would be louder than the stock BOV.

A cork from a wine bottle fits perfectly. Thats what I'm using It's ghetto...but hey...

just clamp it down and you're all set. I suppose I could have vented it back into the intake since ive got an open intake (Apex) I just like hearing that loud PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I shift more often just so i can hear it....maybe thats why i burned out my clutch

yellin out the window is for ameteurs....heres something better

disconnect the hose from your horn...yes horn...as in beep beep. since the hose is not connected every time u hit the horn it will just blow air out into the atmosphere....emitting a WOOSH sound similar to a blow off valve. so every time you shift gears just give the horn a tap some toolbox did that on his civic to make people think he had a turbo....but then everyone realized he didnt when he ran a 16.3

well, i did it but i dont really like the way it sounds. Its kinda "dull." So i connected the hose again and now im back to normal. I guess im gonna be in the market for one soon. I liked the way the hks ssqv sounded on my 3rd gen supra and i liked the way it kept the idle balanced too. Anyone have this on their rx?
