How long did your clutch last?

Just wondering..cuz apparently..my car is still on it's first clutch. It's sitting at 98k on the odo.

I assume the two guys who owned the car must not have raced the car much..because I doubt it would have lasted this long.

It's still pretty damn strong..no slipping...picks up the power pretty decently.

What's the standard lifecycle for an FD clutch?

1 week. But it had 80k and I only had the car for....well a week. The previous owner told me it was slipping, but I like to get every ounce of performance from a part .

ACT clutch the following week.

Apparently, the ACT clutch is pretty popular. Did you get a new flywheel also, or just resurface it?

Clutch

I went ACT as well I couldn't wait for my JUN flywheel so I just resurfaced the stock one. It works out just fine for street use. Are you thinkin about replacing the clutch yourself?

i have act and used to have a 9.5lb flywheel. i loved that combo. i burnt my first act in about 6 months due to driver not product defect. when replacing it i couldnt wait for a new insert for my flywheel and put the stocker back in and now i regret not waiting for the insert and reinstalling the 9.5lb flywheel. i would get a slightly heavier flywheel if you do alot of stop and go driving.

My stocker lasted ~50k. It wasn't slipping, but was grabbing waaaay high up as it wore down. My ACT street strip and 9.5# alum flywheel have ~44k on them, and (after recently pulling the motor) they both look great and can go right back in.

42K miles. I doubt that your original clutch is still in there. Someone probably replaced it and didn't tell you.

40k miles. This is on the "type A" surface. I replaced it with the stock "type B" surface (the upgraded one) when I had the tranny off for a rear seal leak. It was basically gone although it wasn't slipping. My dad's Probe GT has gone 130000 miles now on its original clutch, go figure...

75k, but it's starting to go. My car was owned by a series of old guys that just liked cruising.

my old cars clutch lasted until 78k.. Once you do full exhuast and intake@12 psi, get about55-6000 in 3rd, bye bye stock clutch, hello act.. Im not saying that 55-6000 in 3rd is going to kill the stock clutch in every 7. I had talk to other people and theirs did the same.

Hmm...you're probably right, Jeff...

But I've got all the maintenance records from the dealer that the car was taken to, and nothing says anything about clutch replacement (he got ALOT of stuff done, turbo replacement, bla bla like in 93-94).

He must have had it taken to a different shop...the guy must have had bags of money though to get it all the crap I saw, done at the dealer.

118k miles on original clutch. Believe it or not I bought this diamond in the rough from a 63 year old man, @ 116k miles, who needed the money to pay for medical bills acquired by his sick wife. I now have the car 26" off the ground in my garage, trany dropped and turbo's pulled. Still debating on whether I want to do the hose job myself or not.

Happy New Year To All

It wouldn't surprise me at all. I'm over 91k miles and am still on the original clutch(and engine and turbos, etc.)

130K

The clutch in my 88 Convertible has over 130K miles on it. Since the vert is heavier and has far less power than the 94, I believe that the clutch in a 3 gen should also last a long time, unless you ride it, or are constantly slipping it with a lot of power.

I had a slipping clutch in my car at 77k(bought it at 74k), when I pulled it I found out it was a centerforce...Then went with a stock clutch which lasted about 25k... Then to a Star SPEC clutch..

rear main seal is not the cause...
and is not a cause for clutch wear..
failure of the rear main seal will cause saturation rendering the disc useless...

I WAS NOT talking about your clutch slipping ,at the BBQ you told me that you had a leak at the back of the engine on one of your cars and was going to take it to KDR to get it fixed, but was considering doing it yourself!
