How i get my BOV to sound louder

This sounds silly but my car sounds like a NA and its a FD. but in order to get the bov to sound (hks BOV) i have to rev to 7000+ in ORDER TO HEAR IT. and when i do hear it you can bearily (hope i spelled it right) hear anthying. how can i have the BOV go off @ at least 4-5000k and make the BOV louder so i can hear it!

Ill admit though people who listen to it dont think its turbo cause all you hear is the exhaust

Thanks!

Are you saying you have an HKS BOV or you would like yours to sound like one?

turn up your boost, its louder. You might have a boost leak in first turbo if it doesnt go off at first. Do you have a boost guage? Check it.

are you non seq or seq? and did you install the BOV correctly?

i had this problem when i first got my turboxs h-rfl (real ****** loud). i had the bell point up towards the hood and i would get no sound at all however i would get correct boost..i then put the bov upside down with the bell pointing downwards and then i got the loud sound, even under light or hardly any boost..

im non seq but i still get that light whistle (its pretty loud though) when i shift at like 3000rpm..

If you want loud get the BLITZ or XS-RFL Bovs!! I have two of the RFL's, and no I didn't do it for the sound, its really not even louder than one bov, I did it to avoid surge. and it looks cool IMO.

the BOV is HKS. it couldnt be because of my HKS hiper because the FD i had before the BOV went off even with a little reving. but my mechanic said it was a stock one!+

Stock twins
My signature shows whats on the car (just got it last week) 3000 miles on a rebuild

on the PFC the boost shows 10-8-10

maybe you need to adjust the pressure relief setting on the BOV

can the hks bov's even be adjusted?

darkphantom, did your bov kit come with any metal washers or anything so you can adjust spring pressure?

if you're still running stock twins, where is the BOV located? is it hooked up to the stock location by the airbox or do you have it on the piping leading to the Upper Intake Manifold? If you don't have it between the IC and UIM it won't be very loud at all. With the stock twins, you can really only run 13-15 psi reliably, and i'm assuming you have stock ports on that rebuild, so you're not going to be able to make it much louder with the set up you have. it sounds to me like youre not so much worried that you have it set up wrong, you just want the "cool" BOV sound. Call me an ******* but i personally think that anyone who posts something like this just so they can figure out a way to show off that they have BOV is an idiot, and has strong ricer tendancies. If you really want a loud BOV, buy a damn single turbo and get it tuned for 1+bar of boost. Then you'll have the power to back up all those noises coming from under the hood.

Who cares what other people think? YOU know it's turbo. Isn't that all that matters?

The irony if overwhelming!

If your mechanic says it's a stock BOV, maybe it is. Why don't you take a picture of the passenger side of your engine bay and we'll tell you what you have.

I have some special unobtanium treated compressed air I'll sell you to treat your BOV. It goes psst pssst. Maybe you should wire a mic to it and amplify if it thru your stereo.
