how hard is it to take off a tranny????

is it hard? My biggest concern is taking the driveshaft off. I've never done and driveshafts before so I have no clue on how they come off. Please help me if you can

thanks

Well it's not that diffcuilt but with the fds it's kinda compact with everything at the bottom, Anyhow first inside the car remove the gear shift 3 studs hold, then starter, then slave cylinder,Also there are some wires hook up to the tranny unplug, remove the 3 chasis stiff bar, remove downpipe, main cat, drain the tranny oil, also u need to have both rear wheel's up & free and then remove the 4 bolts and nut's at the back of the rear that hold the driveshaft, Also I think the ppf has to to be remove> I can't remember it's been 6yrs. good luck, btw I notice u r selling the tranny what is your best offer?

It's not how hard is it, it's all about how LONG it takes.

Yes, you DO need to remove the PPF to get the tranny down. This is actually a good time to inspect the PPF for any cracks which they are prone to with high HP FDs

yeah it took me about 1:45 to get mine out (working alone) It all depends on what kind of tools you have to work with. It is VERY helpful to know someone with a carlift and tranny lift they will let you use. And i didn't take my PPF our just unbolted the 4 on the tranny and held it to the driver's side while i pushed the tranny to the passanger side on it's way down. You will have to pull the mid-pipe for sure but my down pipe was left on.

PPF is the 3-4 foot ladder looking support that connects the tranny to the diff. cant miss it
