how hard is a basic streetport

I was wondering how hard it is to do a basic streetport, because their is a guy that lives around my block with an evo 5, he does basic porting and said he would charge me 250 for a basic streetport, should i go for it, or should just take it to a repuatable shop lik j&r

Why wouldn't you have your engine rebuilder port it?

Doing an "average" job of porting isn't that difficult. With good instructions, and the right tools, anyone can do it. Doing it well requires experience with this specific engine. If your guy is not a rotary expert, I would not pay him to do it. Pay the expert.

i planned to have my engine rebuilder do it, but his prices start around 400(still not a bad price) but when my friends reminded me about his expierence doing his own porting on his evo, i thought maybe i could save a few dollars and take it to him, but since he doesn't have expierence on rotary engines ill just take it to my normal shop
