I always thought mine was a little scarry in the snow. Tires are too wide for such a light car in snow.

yeah, it can be pretty brutal. But if you know how to handle it, it can be ok.. We over a foot up here a week ago. It's all melted now, but I just left my car in the garage, and borrowed my parent's audi 5000cs turbo quattro for a few days. I kept trying to convince my buddy to let me drive his Escort Cosworth around a little...but he wasn't havin it.

It's not how my car does in the snow that worries me. It's all the other people on the road that can't drive worth a **** that worry me..

I just about got caught in the FD in that 20 minute blizzard (one on the strangest and hardest snows I've ever seen) but I opted to take the Saturn to work instead - lucky me. I've never driven my FD in the snow and don't plan on it I can help it.

I would avoid it if I could. My FD is a daily driver, but no accidents or anything yet. (knock on wood-it's snowing right now!)

My FD doesn't handle in the snow. Mine's winterized.

Thumbs down

Drove mine in the snow once. I only spun it one time between the ride to and from work, but it was enough to convince me never to drive it in the snow ever again.

Question FD in Snow

Yeah with snow tires, the FD does fine.

All Season tires are marginally better than full tread depth max performance tires.

I put 100 lbs of ballast in back to keep weight over the rear tires to avoid being stuck in the snow.

Of course the ballast doesn't help when trying to round the corner the ***-end swings wider than expected (yikes!).

You can get around ok if you put a little weight in the back(+ full tank), have good tires, and don't try to go up any small hills from a dead stop. Don't try snow deep enough to run underneath - you won't go anywhere.

Most important - keep your foot out of it. Drive like your grandmom in a Honda if you don't want to spin out. On the other hand, you can do some great donuts with the car.

If you havn't driven a rear-wheel drive car in the snow, don't try it unless you are comfortable with driving sideways from every dead stop (and when spinning under throttle). I think it is fun, though.

I've had all 3 gens of RX7's and have not had any problems with snow. Don't expect it to drive like a FWD, though. If you get real snow, put the FD away and drive the Hyundai\SUV

I drove through 4 Indiana winters with my SACC and never once went off the road, even driving through blizzards (and passing Jeeps!). You had to pay full attention every single second though.

My FD is never going to see snow.

Nothing called snow here in San Diego, I had to run the AC today it got a bit toasty.

I seriously could never live in a cold environment, damn the weather keeping me from driving my baby! If I want snow I drive 50min to the mountains.
