Question How does this engine sound?

Since I had unflooded and restarted my engine (see https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/can-damage-coolant-seal-cause-smoke-engine-bay-792376/ ) My car is really not iddling and sounding the same.

I must say that my sparkplugs didn't look good (allthough quite recent) and as I broke one of them I have one brand new out of 4.
Also the air pump is still on but not electrically plugged-in as I pinched the connector under the cross-over tube, was too lazy to undo and plug back.

Now listen to this

Cold engine:

http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=N6C0k-6dDF8

Warm idle:

http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=448ZuSG60Do

Same:

RPM niddle:

http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=Qwuwz9E5B4M

Now I never had the such clearly audible puffs and my idle niddle was rock solid at 800, now it's slightly bouncing around that value! Also during the test ride I noticed that idle had a trend to go below 800, approaching dangerously stalling point...

What's your opinion?

As I might have overheaten I also made a champagne test but didn't run it long enough to have clear results. Need to do it again.

If you are on the stock ECU or stock based rechipped ECU, the idle will be uneven without the airpump at the stock idle level. That's is completely normal. Also, don't just replace one spark plug, replace them all if you have to replace one.

Air pump is on, just unplugged. So just because it's unplugged it can affect idle?

Yeah for the spark plugs I know, I ordered a set of new ones. Here in France you can only find them at some mazda dealers, and it's if you're lucky, and the set costs over $200.

So I decided to be patient and found a set @ $55 incl. shipping on ebay...

Thanks again for your contribution Mahjik.

Yes. Having it on the car doesn't matter unless its electrical plug is connected. Without that, it's never engaged thus there is no air pumped into the ACV.

You might look to buy them in bulk since these cars will eat plugs. It's recommended to change them at 5000 miles intervals. I believe this place ships internationally:

http://www.rockauto.com/

and they sell the plugs in bulk.

Yeah tell me about it! Owning a 7 here is quite costy, and that's euphemism since petrol is around $1.89 per liter...

No, you "think" the airpump is on but its not.

You will see the clutch spinning or not at idle. So if its unplugged, its not on at all.

The airpump is supposed to be running to about IIRC 3000rpm, then shuts off automatically afterwards.

That was just the airpump. I connected it back in and no more problem.
It's just like before: stable idle and no puff puff.

Problem over. Thanks guys.
