How do you remove the PS pulley?

My problem is I haven't found a good way to hold the pulley while trying to remove the nut. I tried using a screw driver wedged behind the pully on one of the ridges and succeed in breaking part of the pulley off (its made of plastic it turns out).

Anyone have a better trick for holding it in place, besides buying the Mazda SST?

If you don't have an air compressor use a strap wrench, you can get these at sears. Take the belt off and wrap the large strap wrench around the pulley then use you socket on the nut holding the pulley on. The strap wrenches come 2 to a set and run around $20.

i just went to my local DIY store and bought a piece of steel about 1/4" by 2" by 4'. Drilled two holes to line up with the two holes on the front face of the PS pulley, and passed two M6x30mm bolts through and tightened them on.

Then used a long 17mm ring spanner on the nut at the centre of the pulley and rested the spanner holding the nut on the chassis rail by the battery. Put the steel in place and pushed down against the spanner, and the nut came off- easy !. I also needed a puller to get the pulley off the pump shaft.
