How do you get all 4 wheels of an rx-7 off the ground?

hey, i was wondering how do you guys lift up your rx-7. it's time for me to rotate my wheels, and i don't have access to a 2 post lift. I don't really want to use butterfly jacks either because they tend to bend the undercarrige. So far i've been using ultra ramps and role my car up. I know where you are supposed to position the jack to lift the rear, but can't fit one under when it's on ramps. So now I'm wondering how to get all four wheels off the ground, onto jack stands, with the following tools: ultraramps, jackstands, regular floor jack (not the little cylinder one, the nascar type)

And no i don't mean get all four wheels off by flying the car off a cliff.

thanks,
Hawaii rx-7

use your nascar style jack on the front...put 2 jackstands on your jacking points behind the front tires....go to the rear and reapeat...

dude dk lay off. When i read your post, i found it only helpful in explaining where i put the jack for the rear end. (rear diff) Thanks again. Now my problem is that the jack is the el chepo one from napa, and is too big to fit under the front. that's why i use ramps. when i lift the front up, the back goes down (obviously) and is too low for me to slip my jack under. Would you recomend me get another jack and do some sort of teater tottter ballance act?
Thanks again in advance.

If you're having trouble getting enough clearance for your floorjacks, all you gotta do is make a small ramp by putting something a few inches tall in front of your tires (book, wood, bibles) just drive right on top of it, park and you'll have enough room. Dont forget to use jackstands on a level surface, use the parking brake, put it in gear, and put some stoppers so the car doesnt roll off and kill you

I thought you're supposed to switch front and back on the same side when rotating wheels?

yep if it's radial. but i don't like using butterfly or scissors jacks, whatever you want to call it, because they bend the undercarriage. even the stock jack with the grove in it bends it a little.

the jack that comes with the car IS a scissor jack. And I've never even heard of a butterfly jack. Now what kind of jack are you talking about that "bend the undercarriage"? and what do you mean by "bends the undercarriage"?

My suggestion, much like BlackR1, is to drive your car up onto some sheets/blocks of wood, so that you can slide your floor jack underneth it, and jack up the front, then put the jack stand under the jackpoints behind the front tires, then go to the rear, and use the floor jack to jack that up, and put the jackstands under the jackpoints in front of the rear tires. Easy.

If your floor jack doesn't want to go high enough, get a new floor jack. If you don't have the money, then put your jack on some sheets/blocks of wood too.

And neevosh, For directional tires, you just move the fronts to the back. For non-directional, you should move right front to left rear, and left front to right rear, etc.

Lifting car

Hmmmmmm I use my autozone type jack all the time and just place it in the proper place for removing the front wheel. I can lift the car on one side high enough to get both the front and back wheel off the ground, sooooo you should be able to do the same. Loosen the lugnuts on both the wheels jack the car from the proper position to raise the front wheel off the ground, (place jack stand under car) I place mine under the a-arm support. Lower the car onto the jack stand and move the jack to the proper lifting position for removing the rear wheel and place a jack stand under the rear of the car. Swap the wheels front to back or (back to front) on that side lower tighten lugs and repeat for the other side. I don't understand why you would want to use the ramps if your changing the tires ???? Hope this helps, Jack

I use a small roll-in floor jack under the front subframe for the front.

Then use it under the diff center for the rear.

My jack has a max height of 5.5 and has a 2.5 ton
capacity. Got it from SAMs Club many years ago.
Had a friend just buy a similar one with the DELCO
name on it.
