How do i test my Turbo Control Solenoids?

Okay well the emission solenoids are easy. Give them 12 volts and listen for a click and test them for continuity which should be around 32. But how do i check the turbo control solenoid?? I want to make sure that it works but dont know how.

I hate to say this, but you need to do more than that to guarantee a working solenoid.

The click and resistance check verify that it's not completely shot, but you should still test for leaks and operation under pressure if you want to be reasonably sure it will work in operation. And then do it all again with the solenoid fresh out of a 250F oven. To do this I strongly recommend a Mityvac Silverline Plus kit, which is around $60 on eBay or a discount tool supply store. This will allow you to apply up to 15psi and down to 25inHg vacuum to the solenoid. I test using the Mityvac per Dave Disney's arrangement, which I don't have a link to at the moment, but is specifically for stress testing the turbo control pressure solenoid.

I find that out of a batch of perfectly good looking used solenoids, 99% pass the resistance test, 90% pass the click test, and only 50% pass the click test while loaded. So it pays to go the extra distance with testing them.

I can post more info later when I have time if you're still interested.

Check these threads for Dave Disney's pressure testing of solenoids:
