How do I know if my wiper blades are original

My 93 RX7 has 18,000 original miles and I need to change my wiper blades. I want to go original Mazda as I have never had good luck with aftermarket blades and do not want to try again.

Autopartspeople.com sells OEM Mazda rubber blade inserts that fit in the original blades. I think my blades are original but I am not really sure. They do not have any brand name on them or part numbers though?

Is there any way I can tell if they are genuine Mazda so I know if the inserts will fit?

Thanks,
Drew

I not sure MAZDA manufactured the originals either. A supplier, probably the same company that made them on Toyotas and Nissans, made them. Just measure what's on the car.

The mazda autopartspeople.com had the whole blades as well. So I still kinda need to know if my blades are original or not so I know if I can just order the inserts or if I will have to pay a few bucks more and get the full Mazda blades

I have my original blades in the basement. I'll get a picture up after work Monday if I don't forget.

Also, the original wiper blades had a "spoiler" on the passenger side wiper blade to help keep it down at speed. Really cool little feature, and pretty much every FD doesn't have that any more, they get thrown out with the original wiper blades.

I really like buying OEM wiper blades for my cars. They squeak/vibrate less and seem to do a better job. I'm still in for some pics of original FD blades!

autopartspeople.com seem to sell the originals.

Drew - if you want top notch blades (wayyyy better than OEM), get the Bosch blades. They are frigging amazing. Expensive, but amazing. They don't wear like normal blades either - they last much longer.

I've also heard good things about the Bosch blades. Going to try a set soon for my truck.
Going to MAZDA or anyone for "OEM" wiper blades makes as much sense as going for OEM light bulbs and brake fluid. You'll pay more, only you will know and peformance won't be any better.

Sorry it took so long for me to get this pic. Here is my OEM passenger wiper with "spoiler". When I took them off for some Bosch icons, I played around with them to see if the blades were replaceable. I have the rods for them and I misplaced a clip but here it is. I tossed the trashed blade therefor none is installed.

Dale, on my red '93 the wiper blade holder on the left has the spoiler on it, but I'm the third owner so don't know how it was delivered, if they came on the right from the factory, maybe that was in deference to RHD, seems like we LHD people would want the spoiler on the driver's side, no?

I usually try to just replace the rubbers instead of whole wipers, but most of of the replacement rubbers/stainless reinforcers are wider than the stock ones so they won't go in without first opening up the claws a little bit first, then it's $2.99 to replace both rubbers instead of $16 for a pair of blade assemblies and it still has the spoiler,.

Your're pretty knowledgeable about RX-7's, was there ever an option for an adjustable double deck wiper spoiler with end plates for more downforce?

God I hope so!!!!

Hahaha. Honestly, now that I have a DD and I won't need to drive my 7 in the rain, I might try and get some replacement rubbers and stick the OEM wipers on for originality sake. Know a place or website I could get em? I tried the autopartspeople website but the drop down menu only went to the year 2000. Maybe Ray @ Malloy could score some!

Looks like they do have them on autopartspeople.com. Just go to the Collision/Mechanical parts tab (It goes back before year 2000). Looks like they sell left/right blades and left/right inserts. No rear blades that I can see and I dont know if the blades come with the diffuser or not.

oemmazdaparts.com seems to sell the fronts at better prices than autopartspeople (not sure about shipping yet) and they sell the rear insert and blade as well. Hopefully my fronts will come with the cool diffuser!!

Mine is the exact same as Mrmatt3465's so I won't post another pic. Spoiler/Plastic piece is stamped J65H on the back. Wipers are stamped NWB Japan.

NWB = Nippon Wiper Blade? its the OE for Mazda. Mazdausa sells trico's or something, which is fine, but they do lack the spoiler.

Our '94 has a spoiler on the driver (left) side but not on the right. (OEM since new).

Yes, but was it a carbon fiber double deck spoiler with adjustable angle and endplates or just the regular steel one?

Neither, made of wicker by the hands of a tiny geisha.
