I need to do a check to see if the computer itself is clicking my solenoids. Is there a quick test to get the computer to do this? I have a PowerFC if that changes anything. Specifically I want to make sure the circuit that controls the 'turbo control' solenoid is working.

 

Few ways you can do it. One not too hard way would be to unplug the connector, get a 12v low wattage light, stuff the positive/negative leads for the light into the connector, put the light where you can see it (like under the windshield wiper) and go for a drive. When the computer tells the solenoid to work, the light will come on.

Also, you can do a continuity check on that wire. Most likely one wire for the solenoid is 12v with the key on, and the other will be switched ground when the ECU turns the solenoid on. A simple test with a multimeter will tell you if the 12v wire is good - if you get 12v there, the wire is good up to the connector. The other wire, you can put the meter in continuity mode, connect one end to the wire, the other end to the wire where it goes to the ECU, and see what you get. Or, hook that one wire to ground and check to see if you have continuity to ground at the ECU.

yeah i was just about to post back that i hooked up my voltmeter, ran the lines into the car and sat the meter in the dash so i could see the 12 volts pop up. Looks like we had the same idea =)
