Arrow How can I make my FD handle better? 1.0+ G

Looking at some specific tips on how to make my stock FD (non R1 or R2) handle better than it does now..... I don't want to lower or get new rims (I want to keep a low profile and keep it stock looking)....I'm looking at doing 1.0 G or better....

Springs? Any specific recommendations?

just because a car can pull high G's on the skidpad does not, in any way, mean that the car handles good.

anyways, if you want to increase grip, which is what the skidpad tests, just get some new tires.

think again

You need race/autocross tires...I did an autoX this weekend. Rode in a car with high performance street tires then a car with race (i.e. hoosier/kumo) tires....there is no comparison. The race tires where like glue!

I'm sure you will loose all comfort on the road! but great on the track

that's exactly true.

Handle better? Tires will do it as well..But You could also get new springs and shocks. I suggest the Apex'i N1 coilovers if you are looking for high end. If you are just looking for springs. I suggest H&R. Strut tower bars will help stiffen the chassis a little. Jimlab's bushings will keep things firm. And upgraded sway bars (and bushings) will help reduce sway (body roll).

If you want better "handeling" then bypass the power steering. For better grip then go to bigger rims and tires. I'd say 17X8.5 up front and 17X9.5 in the rear, but you say that you don't want to do that.

Also, get a Front Strut Tower brace, like the R1s have.
