How can the car run with the fuel pump relay removed? Magic?

Like the title says, what could cause the car to continue to run after the fuel pump relay has been pulled out on a 93' Base model? Yes I'm pulling the right relay! And the Fuel pump has not been rewired, it is running a Walbro though.

All I can come up with is that there must be some other circuit shorting into the fuel pump circuit. I'm going to look at the wiring diagram to see if there is anything obvious to check but I need some more ideas from you guys.

Thanks

are you sure it's the right fuse and the pump has not been re-wired?

How long will it run with the relay out? Could it be running on the residual pressure in the lines?

Because the relay labeled "fuel pump" only controls the switching from 9v to 12v. The fuel pump normally runs at 9v to reduce noise/extend life. It switches to 12v under load. The green circuit relay also powers the fuel pump. Pull that.
