honk honk.........Swaping horns

Yo guys..........

As I was putting in my front mount intercooler I noticed how wimpy our horns are. I mean come on, have you ever pressed that button on your steering wheel and herd a dying bird noise coming from your car. My dad's got this old bet-up truck. a 1995 Ford F-350 diesel. anyway I was driving that around when I honked the horn, and let me tell you it was pretty loud. My question is, should their be a problem with swapping the horns? Other than my dad getting pissed? Tell me what you guys think.

Regards, Matt

I'm gonna switch mine out too

I never beep any way but if I had to it would be embarrassing.

The horns suck on RX-7s.

I'm embarassed to use mine because if someone hears it they would expect to find a VW Cabrio, not an RX-7

SWAP AWAY there is a place on both sides for horns , so get two that the relay can handle . Horns from the VW rabbets golfs are loud and will fit in the space on each side. The relay will handle two of them.

I bought a 138 decibel horn from Kragen auto. I figure one loud horn should be enough. $15.

Hope to install it soon.

I replace my factory horns for some aftermarket Hella horns. These horns are much louder than stock and they sound alot like a
BMW or Benz.

These horn cost me $25.00 at Super AutoBac and they were super easy to install.

Why would any of you guys wanna change the horn. Don't get me wrong it does sound kinda...wimpy...but have you ever heard the horn from a ferrari or a lamborghini??? The fact is that some of the fastest and most prestiges cars on the planet have the wimpiest sounding horns. the fact that our horns sound like that in my mind seems like a compliment almost like we're on the same level as them.

I honk my horn because I want someone to hear it. Especially the guy who is about to back into me. The stock horn is almost worthless.

Cihuuy you can just swap in a standard horn to the stock wiring. With big air horns ,ect . you would need the stock horn wire to trip a relay to run the air pump ,with the correct gage wire from the battery .

I replaced mine when I did the 99 Spec front change. When I'm in traffic and want attention for some *** trying to get in my lane for not paying attention. It wakes them up. I can carve a path in traffic when I hit the horns. I measured the horns with a db meter from Radio Shack at 5 feet with engine running ~130 db.
Noise levels at >120 db is when OSHA tell you to wear ear plugs.

Replace them!!!!!!
