maybe you need new plugs? what kind of issues were you having that you decided you needed a twin power anyway?
This may or may not be safe. Never did it with the FD, but I have done it with small engines like motorcycles, lawnmowers, etc. Pull the plug. Put the boot on. Hold the electrode near something metal and see if you can see a spark while the engine turns over. At any rate you can check your plugs to see if they're wet, which would indicate that you are flooded.
