Hissing sound from A/C???

Hey all,
When I turn on my A/C, it makes a hissing sound for a few seconds. This repeats every once in awhile. Is this normal? I never hear it on other cars.

Mine just started doing the same thing, is the hissing coming from under the passenger side dash. I can actually feel mine coming out.

I starting checking out some things and noticed I had a leak and the system was way low and that might be causing it.

If it is low don't run the a/c or else you will burn up the compressor.

That happened to me for awhile and I lost all of the freon. It blew warm all the time. I had it filled again and at first it was ok but it all leaked out again. Not sure whether it is a hose, pipe or the compressor. I haven't dealt with it yet beause it is the winter.
